Maybe I’m chasing ghosts and this radio doesn’t have any remote control input support.

The BE2430 is the non-BMW BE2455, but the BE2430 has more options, including the most important ID3-tag support.
I have no PhD in electronics to find out if this could be done in software/firmware, which would be ideal as I could keep the BMW unit and not mess with aftermarket interfaces and adapter cables.

About the cruise control in this post, this protocol is different to the IBUS.

I've talked to Revtor about this. At the time of the post he wasn't aware of the available steering wheel interfaces that make BMW steering wheel controls possible on many different type of aftermarket radio's.

The interface is the whole idea of translating BMW ibus signals to the specific aftermarket radio 'language'.

I understand some of the radios use a resistor array at the end and the beginning a ADC reference voltage about 5V. I included this too in my interface. But there are so many radios on the market, so I decide I made it mainly for my own radio.

The HW8 is not relevant, as it’s the white connector factory unit.

This does not support MFL controls.

You need to fit the blue one.

Wds pinout was posted by Dancerst in one of the early pages.

It’s weird that button doesn’t work. But just for the record, it’s not the ‘set’ button (that’s +). It’s the “Resume” button.

I think you might test it incorrectly, as having all 3 other buttons work, except that one, doesn’t make sense.

    That’s how the cc works.

It will be less or eliminated when you code the module for your exact motor.

On my M3 you don’t even feel it engage when + is pressed for its “set” function.

Routing of the throttle cable could be different. If for one model it's x-amount of travel to move throttle plate by y-ammount, could result in different plate movement for another model.

And check with NCS Export what the exact coding is, at least to rule out any mistake.

Wanted to finally "show" my car that a cruise control has been installed and code it for smoother operation trough NCS expert, but I`m getting a VIN is faulty error.
INPA is working fine tough, throws an error on some settings once in a while, but overall it works. So I cant figure out what is the problem. Cant find any information either, maybe I`m looking in a wrong direction..
    Im using this - https://www.car-auto-repair.com/mike...-7-8-10-vista/ on a windows 10.
Also a lot of people are using "expertmode" profile, but the version I have its not there.

Maybe someone can provide my with version that works for them and I can move on from there and find a problem. My E36 is a OBD1, I guess, the round connector in engine bay. Its an European model.

I use Revtors Ncs Dummy profile.

Just google “Taking the expert out of Ncs Expert” or NCS Dummy.

Hi. I swapped my CCM with HW5 SW3 to HW8 SW4 but still need to press the seperate dash button. I can not activate cruise control using the I/0 button on the wheel. Has anyone encountered something similar? What could be the problem here?

You need to code the parameter “Main switch” from Switch to Multifunction steering wheel.

finally trying to get to this project. Does anyone know the part number for the lower steering column cover without the cutout for the cruise control stalk?

    Seriously? nobody knows?

It's ok I figured it out. Just to add a bit more knowledge to this thread. The part number for the lower steering column cover without the stalk cutout is the same as the one with the cutout. You need to make the cutout if you have a cruise stalk.

Also I know there's a few ways people here have added a cruise control light. Here's another. If you have access to a laser cutter you can simply etch the symbol onto a blacked out part of the symbol strip in the instrument cluster. I used the 4th spot from the left which corresponds to pin 8 on the white connector. I think that one works best for most e36's. I wanted to practice on a junk strip first to get the power settings on my laser cutter right so I got one from a junk yard. I used 20% power but that's vary per laser cutter. I then added a green gel filter. Here it is.

It is correct placement, it’s number 4 from the left.

nicely done with laser cutting, but a bit off center?

P.S. which cutter did you use?

It's a Universal Laser 60w. Yeah it came out a bit high. My red pointer was probably off. I guess I could have painted it and retried but I'm fine with it.

Really love the ingenuity to use a laser for that!

I took a detour in finishing this project again because I was going to clean up my steering wheel but decided to rewrap it. Glad I did. I looks and feels much better. I added some foam to thicken it up. Now it's better than the E39 M wheel. All that's left is to reprogram the cc module.

    That's the one.

Funny how bmw didn't use "S52".

Also make sure to recode, if not already at this value, Main Switch = MFL.

I've given up on the project since my car is no longer very OEM (engine swap). Im selling my pre 99 E39 Mtech steering wheel, with buttons (rewrapped, so its mint), and an older E39 7 wire slip ring with single stage airbag.

    PM me if youre interested

Only just realized you seem to be using a >3/99 wheel from an E38/E39, since it has that big wire hole on top for the later E38/E39 slipring and such. How did you fit the E36 slipring to this wheel?

    Hey!

I have installed a e46 M steering wheel with e39 cruise control (HW07 SW04 module, 07/97) to my e36. The buttons and cruise control work flawlessy as they should be. Steering wheel is with I/O button and without MF module.
However, the cruise control is off a 520i e39, I would like to code it to e36 m50b25 configuration.

My INPA or NCS Expert fail to communicate with the CC module!
I have triple checked all the wires, especially TXD wire white/violet from pin17 of the CC module. This is connected to the comb connector x183. and follows up to X20 pin 17 and diagnostic connector pin 17.
As far as I can tell, this module does not use RXD communication

Is there anything I am missing, or why am I not getting any diagnostic connection to the module? I failed to find a similar problem or an answer to this in the thread.

    Thanks.

have you tried to access your old module with NCS Expert before?
I think it’s one of two:
    - damaged module
    - bug in software

I installed the CC from scratch. I did not have any cruise control on the car previously. Every part of the cruise control is from 08/97 e39 junkyard car.
And again, everything else works except diagnostic communication.
