This is about rear wheel horsepower! Not flywheel horsepower! Your car would make 230-40 rwhp on a dd in shoot6. What are u smoking?Originally Posted by jamie123
last time I took it to the drags, I couldn't get over 103mph....until I took the air filter off, the same filter that was on there when last dynoed, with it removed, mph went up to mid to high 108mph, but the only thing I know about dynamic test system dynos, is they read about the same as mainline hub dynos

My car made 286 rwhp on a hub dyno, in the same state of tune it made 232rwhp on a dd in shoot6, if you use this data your car is making 254 rwhp on a dd in shoot 6, what was your best previous trap speed prior to cams? Do you know what your car weighed at your pre and post cam 1/4 runs?
best trap to date is 108.82, car weighed 1380kg with me in it

From memory gaz trapped 106mph with 264rwhp in full bodied car, given your weight maybe it is making 250-60 rwhp on a dd in shoot 6, Imagine what it will trap with your new motor!
considering DA at heathcote was ~ 1000ftasl the day I ran there, it is more than 260rwhp...

Given your race weight I'm not sure that it would be,maybe, had you ever used that dts dyno before?
Haha not sure why the uk do thier dynos it an emulated flywheel readout but hey.
I'm happy that ppl are developing the s50b30/2. When I first picked ip the eurospec m3 ppl were saying I'd be lucky to get more than 10hp from factory and mid 13sec 1/4 is about it.
1/4 mile times are pretty goOd comparison. But I can understand why ppl don't bother as u have to mingle with the low socio-economic members of society and the launches are brutal on the drivetrain. I'll probably go once when the engine is finished just for science. Would have no idea on what time I'll run with the twinskrew but if I don't brake 13sec barrior I'll be a shattered man.

260rwhp dyno dynamics in shootout. Only weight remove was spare wheel and jack. With 90kg driver and 1/4 tank of fuel was prob say 1550kg
Now I remove about 70kg with boot carpet / lw battery / all sound deadening / air pump / but added say 10kg with extinguisher and fuel surge tank

there are friendly DD and not so friendly DD so you guys need a dyno day = same day, same conditions, same operator & same dyno
all well and good, but I live over 250ks from Gaz...
also, I have, in early stages, had my car on 2 other dyno dynamics dynos in shoot6, one read about 10rwkw lower, but, they strapped it down that tight the tyres looked flat, and temp probe was leaning on galvanised iron shed wall that had over an inch thick ice on the outside of it (typical day in Ballarat) other time was not long after I got the car, and it read 2 rwkw higher than dyno I usually go to. I am told the old dyno dynamics had same ramp rate as shoot 6 as default

Iv ran the car on three different DD machines with at times three different operators, i have always strapped/chocked the car myself and have seen within 3rwhp, from personal experience these dynos are very comparible if the car is strapped in the same way and the gear ratios used are the same. I have a dyno sheet from a dyna pack hub dyno that reads 362 rwhp however i dont see any relevancey of posting this as its not comparible to anyone elses figures.
We at shedtown racing strive for perfection and have cross referenced the figures with several dynos to prove accuracy to ensure we do not see an "inflated" figure as this would be a complete waste of time with regards to development of the engine. The aim is to achieve highest N/A bhp/litre and extract the most out of each modification also keeping a bulk of the bhp under the curve. "This is what we do" .
When the car is suitably modified then the drag strip will be the last port of call for testing.
perfection striving is good. ive got no doubt that ya car is giving a genuine 310rwhp as with all things optimised like that nice airbox, custom written software, and upgraded cams, thats what id expect to see. Its hard for comparison as the engilsh cars are all in flywyheel hp and there is one over there with 360fwhp (dyno dynamics - but not sure of rwhp prob around the 300 mark) which has your exact airbox, schrick 284 cams, and custom software (alphaN) done by evolve, and the other one was that guy from Bexley autowerks that had just over 300rwhp, agian with carbon airbox, custom software, and schrick 296 cams.
Alans already stated his reading is probably "happy" but theres no doubt he has a very healthy s50b30 also and on a true reading dyno he's probably around the 275-290 rwhp mark.
it would be hard for a dyno day comparison of the cars as my old engine has a hole in the block about the size of a sleeve of a wizard unfortunatly. As it sits now, the new engine is just in the car, with no plenum, 8.5:1 compression, and will be started back up tomorrow so we can adjust the shims for the cam before it goes in to have the twinscrew plenums/brackets manufacutred.
BTW what cams are you running?

I know Jake is all torque...but how much torque are you guys all producing? (Gaz, Alan, Simon)

dyno dynamics give a "tractive effort" reading, not an actual torque reading

the car I am chasing in this vid was on a DD dyno in shoot_6 3 days before this, and made 126.9rwkw, I put my E30 on the same DD dyno I usually go to today, and mine made 127.5rwkw, and my race weight is exactly 40kg more than car I was chasing (we had to weigh in after this race)

I'm confused, it trapped 106mph with 267rwhp, and with 275rwhp trapped 103mph?Originally Posted by morerevsm3
