Starting another thread since the original one is too long. Sooooo...
What have you done for your E24 lately?
I obtained some new and like-new M-Tech spoiler and side skirt parts. I want to incorporate on my Polaris 635csi. I still haven't painted/installed my Alpina front airdam on my Braunie yet My garage is getting full of parts and projects.
I also got my second batch of color-matching dye from Leatherique for one of my rear headrest projects. At first I was kind of unhappy with the re-color (initially), but it ended up drying to a color that was close to my originals. Still not a perfect match, but I can live with it. Working on the rear cushions now.

That's some nice parts you got there. I hope your children have enough to eat!
Just kidding...
I would like to see what your leatherique re-dye project looks like. I am considering doing some re-dyeing as well.
I am definitely doing 2 steering wheels (both M-Techs, course-spline for my '85; fine-spline for my '88 project). I also have those spray-painted sport seats (red!) that need to be grey or black - depending where they end up. Although, if I can even sand off all of the red paint, even leatherique may not be able to make the material neutral for color matching. How did you go about matching color? I may end up recovering them (professionally) in matching grey German vinyl for the '88.
I gave my car a bath, some tire shine, and a (much needed) quick spray wax. I also removed the "Loud Pipes Save Lives" sticker from under the rear bumper rubber above the tailpipes, and added "Rusty and Slow" and "200,000+" decals to the rear window (they're small, don't worry).

Been searching for a couple years for a set in this condition. And yeah, it would be a lot of pizza. I'm just stoked to come across the parts to acquire.
Here is my leatherique rear headrest re-dye.

- oil change (Castrol TWS 10W60)
- gearbox & diff oil level check: ok (replaced 7000 miles ago)
- fixed the wiring and connections to the watertemp gauge sender, had been replaced once before, but apparently a botch job, so now it's done properly and my temp gauge works properly again
Still planned for the upcoming months
- replace front discs + pads + wear sensor
- replace rear pads + wear sensor
- replace spark plug harness
- replace coil
- replace pulse senders
- repaint front lip (it's getting bad) => anyone know of a good clear sort of 'bra' to put over my front spoiler so it won't go bad as fast again ?
- fix SI stuff again & reflow all solder joints on the gauges circuit board
- replace transistor for AC
- revise wiper motor
- check alignment of windows + replace driver's side lock & doorhandle seals on both doors
- treat some early rust here and there

Went for a nice 200 mile cruise yesterday.
Yesterday I installed a modified rear subframe, can now adjust camber and toe-in. My car is so low the rear geometry was really out of whack, ruined the tires in a month... Wish one of the previous owners would have done their due diligence and had this done before selling it, but whatever. I also took the opportunity to install the 3.73 LSD I got from an M6 recently, I'm loving the extra get-up and it seems like it keeps the engine in its power band much more often than the 3.46 open diff did. It's a really nice upgrade. Now I need to wash it, it's been sitting under a tree for a month and got a lot of bird crap on it...

Need to refinish the trunk and mount my M-Tech spoiler one of these days... May just mount my foam spoiler back on for the time being...

finally got around to fixing the master and slave clutch cylinder. and waiting almost 2 weeks for a clutch hose fitting from autohausaz that they lost . but now she is up and running and i missed her dearly.
Stripping the paint off the rims to re-do them, last time they were done terribly. Black centers, chrome lip. very age-appropriate, surprisingly :P
Just went ahead and reglued my foam spoiler...
Stupid, but I put on some new wiper blades.....
And now my car is all clean... Outside anyways... Need to clean out the interior...
I updated my own thread today, but I will contribute to this thread too!
I topped off my power steering fluid, I have two seepy hoses I need to change out... I re-sync'd my fuel filler door locking mechanism to my remote keyless...
I also put new 17" M5 replica wheels and tires on that I found locally on Craigslist...
stole the M Parallels off of it and put them on my new (to me) 540i M Sport

Got under the car to change out the UCA bushings. Found a bunch of other important shit that needs fixin'. Gathered my composure and started on the bushings. The only bolts I could get loose were the heat shield bolts. Cursed profusely, crawled out from underneath the car and put my tools in a pile on the garage floor. Car is still up on ramps and I am not sure what my next move is.
This has been the worst day of ownership, and I am feeling really conflicted.
Finished putting in all my new crankshaft bearings.

got my exhaust completed, put the stock M6 muffler on, changed the oil, changed the alternator ground strap, new airfilter, newish alternator, washed the exterior and detailed the whole interior.
had it purring along, and allll that to be stranded in the ghetto.... it got left under a light in a parking lot for the night
1985 635csi
Re-installed a muffler delete and put all new door panel clips on the driver's side. Also discovered that the stereo wiring is a total hackjob and will have to be completely redone at some point in time.
Changed all the low-pressure power steering hoses attached to the power steering canister. I had a developing leak in that area somewhere, and figured that at least one of the hoses was the culprit but went ahead and changed them all for good measure. Got BMW OEM-spec hoses from Penguin. It wasn't a bad job, but a little messy as you might imagine.
While the car's nose is up in the air and since it's raining, I'll go ahead and change the coolant sometime over the next couple of days.
Try spraying a penetrating lubricant like Kersol on all the offending fasteners and let it sit for 24 hours. After that it might take impact tools.Originally Posted by 4eyes
