Is there a benefit to using ARP main studs to fasten in the crank caps vs the stock bolts? i would like to see if the extra cost is justified on a non moving, non sealing part. i can understand why head studs are good but main studs...whats the big deal there?

One Advantage of them would the be the extremely high quality material of the ARP hardware, and their rolled threads. I think that largely it is just a security measure in making sure the crank stays put under stressful situations. Also, they are re-usable which is obviously nice. Obviously the Head bolts are stretch bolts, but I believe that the mains are stretch bolts as well. You torque them down to a point where they are in the elastic range, meaning that they will be in compression as they are constantly pulling the caps tight to the block. They are a one shot deal, the stock ones.
That's all I got, I think I've covered most of it. Im sure ARP has a schpeel on their site if you want more.
