I had a set of e30 sport seats in my car until just recently. I did not like them.... well, at least not in the car. They sit too high. You would have to seriously modify the seat bracketry to make them fit. It was super uncomfortable to have my knees in the steering wheel all the time. I took them out and put this set of Corbeau seats in:
This thread is awesome, as I do all my own work, and have been looking for ideas/themes for my interior.
i has no seats currently
beautiful job on that steering wheel.
i'm not sure what your question is. what i did was take a 1x2 steel channel and scribe it to the contour of the floor. one for the front mounts and another for the rear. then i bolted the whole assembly through the floor with plate washers on the bottom. the seats operate as per factory.
you do need to remove the e21 seat perches. if not, then as je320 said, they (e30 seats) are way too high.

How much for that shift boot?
I recently got these Recaros for $150 (including the rear seat but NOT the ghetto duct tape fix):

The seat perches? Is that the body colored raised outer portion of the cars floor? If that's what you're talking about, that would be something to take a cut off wheel to? I would love to put my sport seats back in, but I won't cut into my perfect rust free floor. The E30 seats have a bunch of mechanics under them that allow them to raise/lower, fold forward, etc. I couldn't make it work well. I may not be understanding how it's done. Sorry for my ignorance. Is there a "how to" on putting E30 seats in somewhere? Just to clarify what I did, was I screwed a 3.5" long threaded rod into the floor on the non-raised side of the floor boards (both front and back) then threaded a nut with washer down to where it made the seat level with the raised side, then put washers and nuts on top of the factory E30 rails.
Thanks for the info. I won't cut into a perfectly good floor, but good to know about the method. BTW: $150 for a set of Recaro seats is a steal. I wish something like that would come up around Kansas City. I would certainly buy them ASAP... anyone got any around KC? I don't mind if they need some upholstery work.
the seat perches are not part of the floor. they are spot welded to the floor and can be removed without damage to the car. just take your time.

Ignore the ugly shift knob. Our 320 was one of the few I had ever seen with a mint un-cracked dash.
^^Robb, I'm working on an armrest e-console prototype design as we speak, hoping to have it completed soon, and will post pics.

The Frozen Baur (AKA The Frozen Ground) now on Netflix (John Cussack is driving the Omega behind the Baur)
Nothing fancy in my '83, but some curious items from the 80's:
What's left of the sheepskins - uber-warm, but getting pretty ragged
This is the console piece made from wood. I don't know if home-made or after market. The red light and wiring are for the alarm (which works)
I have the whole set of these vintage "BMW" floor mats. Probably from JC Whitney...
The carpet is in pretty good shape except for the extreme fading to moss green
Exterior, but cool - antenna for the cell phone
Coolest seats I ever had.....
