I was getting a creaking noise when I turn the steering wheel and brake at the same time. I thought the noise was gone after I replaced the traction strut bushings but the noise came back today.
After researching this site and others I decided to grease the center link joints and tie rod end joints. The joints were much too dry and the grease was kinda sticky. ds
I greased each of the four joints and took it for a test drive and the noise is gone plus it seems easier to steer.
Kind of a pain to remove and install the ring around the rubber seal (large one).
Really? Thats it? I just installed entire front suspension and I have a similar noise including center link. Ahhhh
ya thats the trade secret..Anti seize the tie rod ends of the center link and there is no chance of the creaky sounds

yap, got it. Thanks Ed!!!
my car has a creeking noise, but it is coming from the steering wheel where as it sounds like you guys are having problems with suspension components. Is my problem caused by a worn "O" ring, or does it have something to do with the steering column?
any help is appreciated
P.S. I haven't seen anything on e38.org, or in the DIY section about the steering wheel making this noise.
It's the slip ring under the steering wheel.
