It’s not anymore. I’ve seen 4-5 posted that have snapped in half on the upper wing at high speeds. Lester wings as stated by the people that had them, and now this new schmeidmann wing. A few German guys on e36 army have posted photos after it happened.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring

It's a fiberglass reinforced plastic wing now. Shame they couldn't make it strong enough. There alot of nurburgring cars that are running reps though, that aren't snapping. Not necessarily from Schmiedmann

FYI replica wings never had the metal bracing in the risers like the factory did, the reps have been known to break at speed.

Almost purchased the schmiedmann smh. Is mashaw the only cost effective solution at this time then? Not looking to spend $2k plus on the wing from precision glass and composites. It’s a work of art nonetheless.

Geometries aren’t right as with most eBay wings.

poland wing bolt holes dont line up on the risers... take out the risers and the top and bottom fit OK for a low rise wing

Wasn’t aware of riser fitment issues. I know some have drilled three holes in the top section of the wing and filled it with foam to prevent sag. The eBay seller for Poland rep has suspended air freight due to corona so it may be awhile if anyone decides to purchase it now...

just ordered one from ebay (not from Poland) and the riser fitment is nonexistent. Not only was the fitment nonexistent, but the cutout for the riser bolts were oddly large. Going to be returning it.

It's not metal bracing. The riser is all metal based inside, with one piece being continuous joining the base to the top. The outer ABS shell does nothing except offer a paintable surface. I'm already in the process of replicating them.

I guess this also belongs in this thread.

If you have ever wanted to see all of the wings BMW produced, here they all are.

-All of these wings are Class II. This is a classification, not an identification.
-All of the wings use the same exact top.
-All of the wings can use the optional riser set.
-The risers do not turn a wing into a "LTW".

-318is/4 Class II Sedan specific base to accommodate the wider trunk lid.
-GT Class II Coupe specific base. No brake light.
-Authentic "LTW". GT Wing modified by PTG for the Lightweight. Cut in third brake light.
-Clubsport Class II Coupe aka "GT2". BMW designed molded in third brake light.

Quickly identifying sedan from coupe (real only)
-Sedan bases have the part number on the outer edge.
-Coupe bases have the part number in the center.

Not shown; There are two versions of the 318is/4 Sedan wing. The one shown here is the later revision with the certification sticker indent on the right side of the base. There was an earlier version that did not have this indent. I have owned this version in the past and can provide details on it. Only this early sedan version lacks the indent. All future versions including coupe have the recessed indent for the certification sticker.

    Part Numbers:
    -Coupe Base: 51712267486
    -Sedan Base: 51712264034
    -Clubsport Base: 51712464705
    -Top: 51712264035
    -Risers: 51712265740 R / 51712265739 L
    -104cm Gurney Flap: 51712268786
    -108cm Gurney Flap:
    -110cm Gurney Flap: 51712265784
    -Install Kit: 51712489686

Purist dickhead in me talking: Stop calling every wing "LTW"
