I wonder if it is possible to take a cheap, saggy, ebay spoiler and make some kind of jig/fixture that forces the spoiler into the proper shape and then reinforce the underside of the spoiler with a couple layers of unidirectional carbon fiber so when it's removed from the jig, it retains the proper curve?

It’ll take a lot of layers of carbon and really strong resin to fix something like that. Not feasible

Why not just buy a cheap fiberglass spoiler from ebay that doesn't sag for $250.

He’s posted about it like 4x in the last 2 pages.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring

Probably the same. Just a different color.

Thanks for that helpful input, but I was was thinking more along the lines of answering what Chris mentioned:

We can see there’s no sag. Just the 90* risers can be an eye sore for those familiar with original shaped risers/top.

Yeah the shape will remain like that, as it’s not an illusion, just the way it’s shaped, however any small amounts waviness it may have had I have seen come out when it’s primed and painted, if it’s done well.

yeah I haven't had time to paint it. It doesn't have 'sag' per say, but if you look at it from the right angle you could notice there's a bit of a curve due to the shape of the curving portion of the wing. Hard to explain, I can take pics later.

I should note, if I do still happen to find a Lester wing, I'd probably buy that and sell my fiberglass euro-wing. I do still think it's one of the better fiberglass wings and good for the value though.

I bought the ebay spoiler from Poland last year around sept and I decided not to install it due to sag.
Now I'm trying from another site similar to ebay but Im not gonna expect much. I think I might just end up putting back my stock spoiler

Just one question - I bought from a seller that makes spoilers for Subarus as well and I compared the spoilers and it seems spoilers for the japanese counterpart didn't sag. Why is that?

Crap mold. Most of the sag reps likely all come from the same place. Or they’re copies of poorly made copies. It’s no coincidence all poorly made reps all look exactly the same.

@busterhax Thanks I didn't think that a crap mold is all thats left of the E36 spoiler Can't someone with an OEM LTW spoiler create a mold of it and sell it?

    @propcar
I got this one last time too bad I didn't know about this thread.
I've messaged another seller on ebay and asked him if it sags he said no so Idk, I might try that if the one getting shipped here in a few days is gonna be deformed as well.

I have an OEM GT wing, but cannot source risers. I would love (read:willing to pay for) to get some OEM quality risers and hardware.

What is involved with making a mold? Is there a risk that the process will damage the original item (paint, etc)?

You'd have to cut the risers open to copy the OE versions. The structural part of the wing in the riser is a metal floating bracket inside a plastic shell.
Someones working on it, but I don't have a timeline for you unfortunately.

No you wouldn’t need to cut it as there are no floating structural pieces inside. There has to be a reason why so many of these wings are so shitty though. It has to be harder than it seems, or these parts producers are really mailing it in.

@notMpowered, Thanks for the insight, do you think its possible to tell the shop to use that crap mold but just make sure the middle part is straight?

[OLD SPOILER] Ebay spoiler - Sag not that noticeable with highrise

I changed my mind and that's when the spoiler just looks like crap. I didn't end up installing this I would prefer to have no spoiler at all than having this.

[NEW SPOILER] I got another one. I think it won't be noticeable at all when fitted to the car, what you think?

I might try another ebay spoiler IDK, I haven't tried to fit it on the car yet but it has noticeably less sag compared to the spoiler from Poland.

What do you guys think? will this new carbon spoiler look like crap when fitted to car?

If you are a gambling man, I’d heat it, and put some pressure in the centre from the bottom. I’m like you, I’d rather be wingless than have saggy wing.

So the shop with the mold won't be able to make one without sagging? If its do-able I want to try to ask them to do it thats why

It’s not that the spoiler sags, it’s that the mould is shaped wrong. The spoilers don’t “sag” per say. They are just built wrong to begin with, with a poor downward curve that makes the wing look like they are melting. I got your PM. Will reply tonight. Have a long winded response there, and can hopefully find something that will work. The link you sent me, the seller clearly uses (from my knowledge of the cars used) photos of wings that aren’t his product. I wouldn’t trust any vendor like that to offer something better.
