Can anyone tell me what Gearbox it is!??

Hello,

I have an unknown number from my manual gearboxwhich is 1221936.9, and its mounted on M50 engine, I need its part number cause I want to order an overhauling kit for my shifter. I bought my 525i 92 last year and it was converted to manual transmission so my VIN # is useless. Can anyone help ??

Can you post a pic or two? It's either a ZF or a Getrag and they are easy to ID just on looks alone.

Edit: It's a ZF... those are the numbers on my trans.

It's exactly the same, I got the same numbers and exact shape, so it's for M3 then awesome thanks mate,,

Actually I should clarify... This is a ZF310z which is rated at a slightly less torque rating than the m3 trans which is the ZF320z. Virtually identical. The m3 variant has a reputation for sticking in 5th. For the the m50 e34 application the 310 is fine. The ZF has traditionally been a stronger trans than the Getrag, but both are fine.

The 310 also came on s50b30us equipped 95 M3s.
