For those of you that are interested in a 2-input board, I have plenty of those at the moment, it is the 4-input boards I am waiting on.

2-input boards give you as standard the oil temp and pressure as a one-liner in the cluster display. The boards are ready and tested for 100 dollars, shipping is 10 dollars, around the world via USPS

I have done one-off units by request such as the Volt display for Bolloc and a boost pressure gauge for a 524 turbo diesel, so if you have a suggestion or idea, please float it and I will see if it can be realized without trans-mongrolizing the board (too much)

Also, I appear to have found the problem with older gray backed clusters. I have had the new software running with radio, OBC and my interface for a while now with no problems.

    @ CamaroGuy

So, would you like an existing 2 input oil interface and add to it an I-Bus input for a CD43 (with Ibus output) for the occasional I-bus messages from the CD43, or, did u envision a dedicated unit that pulls CD43 messages and displays them on the E34 cluster display?

how would u handle messages longer than 16 chars (E32/E34 limit). The Ibus E38 cluster I have for testing does 20 chars. Personally, and easiets, I would truncate the extra chars.

But, not having a CD43, I do not exactly know what messages it sends to the cluster and how many chars are involved.

    4-Input boards are in!!

    anyboy interested, let me know!

If u have special requests, let me know also, e.g. you like a coolant temp rather than tranny temp, i can alter the text displayed.

    Thanks

I definately want a 4 input box, but I have to wait until the year from financial hell is over. I'll get in on this if there's another round next winter FOR SURE.

Some pictures of the 2-input unit, I do not have a housing for this unit but then again, it is cheaper

Gert, got the box. Thank you .

It is a shame it will be buried for as pretty as it looks. Time for the fun to begin, install.

Agh, I want one of these, but the only thing stopping me is the low beam error I get from time to time (and lic plate light).

This box won't "over ride" errors on the screen?
I own mostly junk. Except the Porsche, that's kind of cool.
All the motorcycles are trash which you can read about at

Very cool. Did I miss the pricing somewhere?
    2000 740i Sport -- SOLD
    1989 535i 5sp -- to be turbo'd
    1990 325i 5sp -- track dawg
    1992 325i 5sp Vert -- waiting to be saved

What I would do is turbocharge, then put a turbocharge on top of the first turbocharger. It would probably have eleventy billion horsepowers.

The box does not override 'system' messages, nor does it overwrite radio info for those who have a radio that displays station info in the cluster for 30 sec's or so. As soon as the system message goes away, my interface automatically picks up again. After all, I don't wanna overiride the 'low oil' message and then get sued for an engine replacement

The problem with certain CCM and LKM messages is that they keep nagging till ya fix them.

    as for pricing

$100 for the 2 input interface, $135 for the 4 input interface and $10 shipping.

Hey-- That's an awesome mod.. I am an electrical engineer and a software engineer. It seems like you have this down pretty well, but if you need any advice or software tips, feel free to drop me a PM, I'd be happy to contribute, and I am pretty familiar with PICs. I saw a mod to display transmission codes somewhere and was redirected to this thread.

What is the boost pressure u are seeing, I made one for a turbo diesel (524TD), but those are different as they will never see negative pressure.

For myself I am experimenting with manifold pressure (naturally aspired) using a standard GM MAP sensor.
These are also available in 0-2 and 0-3 bar, 0-5volt output. So in principle it should not be too difficult to make a translate table and display boost and vacuum in the manifold instead of diff or trans temp.

    @ EEDegreeToDrive

yes, I use 8 digital inputs to check up on my TCU (4hp24)

it shows me the shift lever switch as the TCU sees it, and the TC solenoid status, the gear solenoids status and the pressure regulator solenoid status as outputs.

it was very interesting to see the mpg gauge change (for the better) when the TC kicks in at ~45mph. I heard that the Dinan tranny chip also locks up in third gear, so I am curious as to what that would do, alas Dinan chips for a 1989-1990 750iL TCU are rare finds.

    Hi.

    Just wondering if this will work on a E31 ( 850iA -90 ) MID cluster ...
Also, have seen that you made some improvements on the EGS display ( TCC and selected gear ) on a HP24 ( same as ours ).... so , if this can be connected to the MID... it will be wonderful

    Thanks.

Yes it works but you must know the right code sequence.

Since December 2007 we have hacked the Ibus in the E31 and we know the right code sequence to do this

I don't know how I missed this when it was new, but now that I know about it I have to say, THIS IS AWESOME! I'm in for a 4 input box as soon as I'm able, but it's gonna be a few weeks as I have a couple things to do before I'll have the free money. Subscribing to this so that I remember it.

Essentially what I was envisioning was a box that would make the I-Bus think the e34 cluster was one compatible with the I-bus. Thus any message sent to the "box" over I-bus, that is supposed to read on the cluster would magically appear on the non-ibus e34 cluster.

Is that fairly simple to do with what you already know? Yes, truncating characters would be ok, though it would be cool to scroll them

My reason for asking is because the I-bus protocols are pretty well known, and one could start making custom stuff that would be able to display on the cluster via ibus commands....also the cd43 would "just work".
