More grabs.
Nice! Between NCS Expert and WinKFP, there really is no need for Progman (unless you want a simple interface to work with).
I wonder if I can use this to install a 335is or 740i DME flash onto my dad's 535xi

Cool! Now can i update my idrive with this? I'm still showing the pictures in the menu screen (old version).
Cheers
Gav
Yes you can, the CCC has 5 parts to it. Bear in mind it takes around 6 hours to update the applications part.
Great Thread!
Thanks!
Nice new tag line. I see things are going well...

Very nice great photos step by step!
Care to elaborate? I'm pretty sure the DME units are the same between all of the N54 cars (MSD81)... and I'm pretty sure the 535xi has the EWS4 too. I'm not saying I'd take a physical DME from those cars; I just want to try putting the ZB number from one of the "tuned" DME flashes. 535xi also comes with the oil cooler, so it should be safe to flash assuming I have a good charger.
Edit: Okay, 7-series has a new DME, but the Z4 Sdrive35is and 335is uses the MSD81 just like the 535 (DME actually has the same part number).

Hi thanks for the guide could you help on how to import the assembly data as i am stuck there. When i select update zusb no information is displayed.
It's a rather lengthy process. I suspect that you did it wrong. The handbook states that import data will be searched for in the directory you choose and one directory below. The data would typically be stored in Progman as, i.e.
There will be several folders under the "data" directory. These are the ones WinKFP needs to import from so you must drill down to at least the "data" directory in the "import" dialog in order to properly import the files. You must do this for all Exx dirs under SP.Code:D:/Programme/IFS/SP/E89/data/ACC260/4028630A.0pa

Hi thanks for your help Gene i think that i did as you said can you look at pdf ?
You're one directory too low, which will work, but it will take forever to import everything. Select, instead, the "data" directory and it will import from all those below it (but only one level below). Do this for each directory with a "data" directory in it (i.e.: "SP-daten-E36", "SP-daten-E38", ...) I edited your dialog capture to show this:
Thanks Gene i copied the data directory's as you said .Error message so removed a few bad lines from the SGIDC.as2 & the NPV.DAT file& the historie.btu then finally restarted winkfpt but still no joy...When i select update zusb no information is displayed....
There's a final step in the "How to start WinKFP.pdf" guide that says to copy all the data from Progman's SD-Daten-E70/data/gdaten/ to the EC-APPS\NFS\DATA\GDATEN directory, but that's probably a typo. I copied SG-Daten-E89/data/gdaten over as that seemed more logical to me with an E90 and that worked for me. Apparently that dir gets trashed during the import stage since it is off the "data" dir. This dir apparently has all the mappings for the ECU names to the PRG files so nothing will show up in ZUSB list if this dir is corrupt.
Thank you Gene for your help i reloaded the e46gdaten then deleted lines as previously and then restarted and i now have e46 data showing
I would like to know to, my DDE is the only module I have not updated, bit scared to be honest.
Well I suspect that in the case of newer dme/dde software, the time to flash could be significantly longer. The files are definitely a bit larger than what you'll find for e46 DMEs. Heck, an MS43 and and MS45.1 flash probably won't tell me much about flashing my car's MSS54 since it's a more complex unit. My car is already at the latest DME though (love how winkfp makes it so easy to check). I just have a couple friends with 330s that could possibly use DME updates
Curious. How do you check? When I upgraded my firmware (12 modules total, see first attachment) I used the information from Progman. I got a list of modules from progman with "is" and "should" values. I plugged the "should" values into WinKFP and did the flash. There were other numbers in the list (see second attachment). Are higher numbers later firmware?
