Fog lights - how to turn on

Newbie here - so please dont laugh

I have a recently purchased 2001 740il and can not figure out how to turn on the fog lamps.

The rotary light switch to the left of the steering column only has 3 positions, non of which turn on the fog lamps

There is no separate button or switch I can find anywhere.

And, no - the high beams are not on; I am aware that when they are on, the fog lamps are off.

The car did not have an owners manual - so I downloaed a pdf - it just mentions rotating the light switch clockwise, but that does me no good.

This has got to be simple, I am embarressed

    Help anyone thanks

Its the switch on the right side of the instrument cluster. Look at your headlight switch, turn your head about 10" to the right- same position as the Headlight switch, just on the RH side.

What about the dial opposite the headlight switch? Same position, just other side.

You can see the fog lamp switch in the pic below. The switch (as others have stated) is on the right side of the instrument cluster & steering wheel (and to the left of the air vent on the center dash) and looks identical to the round dial for the headlamps which is on the left side of the instrument cluster & steering wheel:

Driving with fog lights on only makes you look hardcore.

Had some moron driving towards me last night at 2am with fog lights only on and no headlights, so I simple switched on my highbeam on, as i do with all cars that drive towards me at night with no headlights on.

Even with HID's, the fogs only look bright as hell but actual light output sucks...should never risk driving at night with just those. But I do that when its evening, which is acceptable.
