Sounds good, I'm in if my schedule allows.
I'm in for the meetups for sure. Obviously, I also vote for raleigh, because I'm lazy.
As for the dragon, there's a lot of nice places to meet on the Tennessee side of things. There's a wal mart and a bunch of places to eat in Maryville, TN. It's SUPER easy to get to the Gap from there, and the roads are pretty good.
That way everyone can maybe run through on their own, check things out, and then meet up and have something to talk about while they eat breakfast or something, and then head out.
Also, if you go, you NEED to head down highway 28 and then check out the cherohala skyway. Otherwise you wasted your trip. The Dragon is fine and all... but there's TONS of traffic and idiots on Harleys holding everyone up. It's fun to run through once or twice, but the scenery sucks and you have to have 100% concentration going through there. The other roads are much faster, with amazing scenery and fun curves.
Anyways, I'm probably not down for heading to the dragon next month. Maybe next time. Just don't have the time.... and if I DO go there, I'm taking my motorcycle, not my car.
^^ What do you ride?

I just talked to some people from work that frequent the Dragon and they said that ice/snow would be a big issue if we went in Feb. I hate to do it to you Steve since Feb would be better for you but should we do it on 19 Mar. instead? Or would anyone rather do it a different weekend that on the 19th of that month?

Right now I have a first gen SV650 that I built up for the track... I just decided last minute to keep it street legal, so it barely is. Aftermarket full exhaust, bigger cams, tuned carbs, racing rear shock, and worked GSXR front forks and brakes. And obviously, fiberglass full race fairings.
It is NIMBLE, and pretty quick for what it is. But I wanted something with a little less power to take to the track.
I also have a couple Triumph Daytona 955i's.... but I sold the last one I was riding and the rest are in pieces right now. I need to get a place with a garage before I finish them. Had that down to the gap a few years ago. Was a fun time.

Im in maryville tn for the next 6 weeks for the af accademy. I plan on hitting the dragon before going home!
^ nice! Wish I had the chance to go the academy! Flightline work doesn't really allow me to go and get much stuff started.
I just found out I will be going to school from Halloween till the 21st of December down in GA instead of this summer.
Austin - I can always take a pass for the cycle and I think we don't pick up again till after the 19th of March anyway.
There are some nice roads just north of Charlotte that we were on last October that I'm sure we could hit up.

They were definitely good twisties but were really narrow and had alot of rocks. I'm not sure though if the Dragon is any better or worse.
im in!!!
hello everyone. im kinda new to bimmerforums. decided to move over here from e46fanatics since i bought the e36. dont get a chance to post alot because of training. but im always down to try and show up for a meet (if training permits). im at fort bragg so i might be near some of you guys. looking forward to getting involved in the community down here. used to be active when i lived in VA.
^^ Hey dude, we've been trying to have more regular meets at the Carolina Ale House. Four of us had a mini meet last night - One M5, two e46 M3s, and my e36 M. Let me know if you need anything, I'm off of Honeycutt in housing.

Since I forgot to bring my headrest mount for you guys (some anyways) to see at the Charlotte C&C, here's what it looks like:
It's made of an aluminum square tube, that's got a few holes drilled into it for the u-bolts (aligned to my vaders). The mini screw mount is held in by a screw through the bottom.
Even though the size of the ball head is relatively small, during two track days, it never moved (well - maybe ever so slightly). There's no height adjustment, besides mounting the bar higher on the headrest stalks or moving the seat/seat back up or down. Although I recommend for the headrest to be moved to the lowest position to "lock" the bar in a bit better.
I wrapped the bar in some fabric that I found at walmart. I think total I spent about 30 bucks - most of which was for the ball-mount - a Giottos MH-1004 (cheap and sturdy - great reviews). If you want a more solid mount - Giottos has many other versions. I bought mine from adorama I think it was.

Unfortunately I won't be able to do the first Dragon run. By the end of this month my car will be a rolling chassis.... if everyone still wants to have it then I may just go and ride w/ my dad instead!
Ben that mount looks pretty sweet. I may just have to build my own now!
For anyone who is interested there is a drift event this weekend in Charlotte. A 240 buddy of mine and I will be driving up there. I believe it's an amateur drift event but nonetheless something to do and some motorsports to watch! Also whenever I find out the 2011 Road Atlanta schedule I'm planning on going to Formula Drift if anyone is down to convoy out there. Last year Micheal Essa in his S85 V10 powered 335i came in third which I assume he will be competing again this year. That thing sounded so sweet coming down the back straight at Rd.Atl hitting the rev limiter!
Lastly we need to start thinking about 4ngiefest in Atlanta this year! I haven't heard yet what the date for it is but it's ALWAYS an awesome turn out and alot of super sick rides!
Super Sick Rides.....I'm in.

Every year I promise myself I'll make it to 4ngie and I've failed for the last 3 years.
... One day...
I wasn't going to be able to make it either. Possibly we can schedule another time over the summer...?
and why is your car going to be a rolling chassis?

Summer sounds good! I had completely forgotten too that I will either be in the sand box during the summer or the fall. Not really sure when my unit's heading out.
And all I'm saying on the rolling chassis is my car may or may not be evolving into an E30 330
EDIT: you'll make it to 4ngiefest this year. Just sayin.

When is it? I have been trying to find out more info on this show but can't seem to find anything that isn't dated 2010.

I'm not sure yet. I've been checking the Georgia forums to see if a new thread will pop up but I haven't seen anything yet. Last year's was in April. I'm assuming it will be the same for this year.
