Question Help installing head unit in Raleigh area....

I need help. So the previous owner (who I never met) ripped out the headunit and bmw amp so needless to say I have a mess of wires and need help installing my aftermarket headunit which I plan on just wiring straight to my front kicker panel speakers for the time being since im taking my car on a 20 hour drive next week and would appreciate some music.

Is anybody willing to help me out? I have no idea which wires go where and have done research online but diagrams are incomplete or dont make sense.

I have all the tools needed and can provide beer, just sayin

Should be easy, are you installing new kickpanel speaker as the factory ones will not provide full range sounds.

If so all you are doing is power/acc, illumination, ground for the headunit. Then run new wires from the kick panels to the headunit and wire those directly. No need to use any of the factory speaker wires for that.

IF the wires are uncut in the dash from the previous owner just go to a car audio store/best buy and get the wiring kit for your car. That will plug in and give you the wires you need to wire into your headunits wiring kit. For this simple setup you should only need like 2 + speaker wires, 2 - speaker wires and like 4 for the headunit ground, power, acc, illumination.

If they are cut you just need to test out those 4 wires with a mutlimeter.

When are you guys working on it? I use to work in mobile electronics back in college.

Oh yea, sucked, skin was so sticky Well my ignition wire was grounding out for some reason and I thought it was the head unit so we made 2 trips to Best Buy and 3 headunits later im running a cheap alpine cde-102 I think, $100. Has the ipod cable in the back, 2 sets of rcas, etc. Now that I know the ignition wire was the cause of my speaker cutoff im gonna take it back and get something alittle nicer. This one line of text for scrolling thru my ipod on the deck just isnt enough and a pain.

Looks like fun I am in the process of installing a amp and subwoofer to be more specific a alpine type r 12 and a california profile ap1000m only reason i choose that amp is because i do not believe the hype about this speak being able to handle 1000watts rms i figured more like 500-600. What you guys think?

@bigjrocc27 Believe it or not those Profile amps are very good! I use to have one to power my old pair of Rockford Fosgate P3's....never once did it go into protect mode because of heat....These type R's can only handle 500rms...the Type X handles a little over 1000watts RMS..which is a stupid amount.

The Profile ap1000m is a perfect match for that type R....did you ever get your Sub Enclosure figured out?

Well i think i am just gonna go with a pre fab since being the shops want to charge me like 200 to build the box. So i went on to ebay and priced them as well as the LOC which everyone wants to charge 25.00 bucks for i can pick a stinger LOC up for 9 bucks off ebay so you know the route i am taking......
