Does anyone know the euro ZB# that doesn't check the Secondary Air System on the 545i's N62 DME?
Gone, but never forgotten:

OK, have a Winkfp question used it for first time yesterday to flash my vin to my 2007 TCU I just replaced my original 2003 version with that came with the car to get full BT Phone capability.
So when Winkfp rewrites the VIN what else happens ??
Thanks

Old thread, but thought I'd ask about changing an ECU to a different family. In section "7.2.2 Function: Programming Update" of the WinKFP Handbook (in the DOKU folder) it states,
The function button is activated only following successful input of the job data by means of the
"Update ZUSB" function in the programming settings phase of Comfort mode.
This function button starts updating of a control unit to the latest assembly identification. Updating to
an incompatible hardware release by means of BSU (boot sector update) is also borne in mind.
For this purpose, the vehicle identification number and the assembly identification number are read
out of the last UIF entry in the control unit.
In addition to this assembly identification number, the latest (current) assembly identification number
is read from the file \<root>\data\<ecufam>\<ecufam>.his (= ZUSB history). A switch to a different
ECU family and therefore to a new, corresponding ZUSB history is possible.
This tells me I cannot swap to a different ECU family using Enter ZUSB or Choose ZUSB. I need to use Update ZUSB and ensure I have the configuration selected to activate the Boot Sector Update. I edited the .HIS file in the current family by adding a line to indicate my current ZUSB has a newer version, that being the ZUSB I want to flash. I also edited the .HIS file in the desired ECU family by adding the same line. Lastly I added my Hardware Number to the .HWH file in the desired ECU family.
Selecting either current or desired ECU family during Update ZUSB doesn't get me anywhere. The resulting dialog box shows my current ZUSB will be overwritten by the same ZUSB.
There must be more than just editing the .HIS and .HWH files... maybe location within the file matters?
Does somebody know, how to deal with COAPI errors 4211, 4206, 1040, 3017? WinKFP version is 5.1.0.0 and the corrupt file is NPV.DAT
What to do?
open the npv.dat file with WordPad and save it. It fixes the npv.dat issues.

LOL. I was young, and it was made in 2004. I keep on meaning to change it.

I have a very quick basic question about WinKFP usage. What does it mean when it shows the Assembly# and Hardware# as shown in the picture? From what I have seen over the internet, this means that the software version I have is greater than the available one, how can this be possible? I am using the latest daten files V65 for my E60 LCI
thanks
