Hey,
So I recently purchased a new radio for my 2003 e39. I bought a new radio as the one that came with the car was in Japanese. (The car was imported from Japan) Anyways as i removed the old radio that had navigation there was only two connectors that both had 12 pins each. I am unable to figure out how to install the new radio as it has individual speaker wires.(mine does not) The connectors are blue and white also.
-Thanks
Hi,
It's been extensively discussed and mentioned, what you need is an extension harness that extends the power/switched power, ground, antenna, speaker cables from the rear of the car to the dash area. Once you unplug the old OEM modules, you plug the new extension harness in, and run it under and along the carpet and behind the glovebox and to the dash area for the new head unit to connect to. You'll see them on ebay for about $40/50 USD, so perhaps $50/60 CDN.
As you've purchased a Japanese Import, I'll assume it's right hand drive. There's a small contingent of UK owners who have Japanese Import examples of the E39, a good friend recently picking up an Imola Red 525i Sport Touring for instance.
Which head unit have you purchased for it ?! Any pictures of the car? details etc?
Cheers, Dennis!
