One of our fellow Baur owners, HarryPR, was involved in an amazing find down in Puerto Rico this week. The story appeared in 2002faq yesterday, and it has caused considerable excitement and interest. It bears repeating here. Great sleuthing, Harry!

Hint:
Here is the first installment of what will eventually be a complete list of ALL the known TC1 Baurs in the US. While I have given only the minimum info here on these cars, I actually have tons more pics of most of these on file, which I will get to sooner or later.
For example, I have the history of Baur #917 from 2001, through 5 different owners, with pics from 4 of them! And we have tracked the Beaufort Baur, #982, from the East Coast to the West Coast, with pics from 4 different owners!
I wanted to get something up on the blog, so this post is a start. These are the US Baurs with Baur Plate numbers between #00000 and 01000 that we have some records on now. You will notice that, although we have pics, some of these Baurs are still unfound. We need your help to find them, boys and girls, so.... keep those cards and letters coming in! And there are more Baurs out there waiting to be found!
Together we have come a long way toward our goal of finding them ALL, but.... we can't do it without you. Thank you all, and ... enjoy!
Stay tuned for more!

We must not forget that the 700 Cabrio is a Baur also!
The BMW 700 is largely credited for saving BMW from being taken over by Mercedes back in the day. It is a fascinating car, famously raced by Hans Stuck, and it was powered by a modified motorcycle engine.
This example is a Cabrio model, converted by Baur. For me, and for many others, this little car was the hit of the Bavarian Auto Show and Shine on October 7, 2012 in Portsmouth, NH. The catchphrase "Respect Your Elders' was never more appropriately applied, IMHO.
I have put together some info and links, as well as a ton of pics. The attached pic is from Ed P. Thanks, Ed!

In the updated blog posts we have actually found some aerial pics of the car from several years ago, located on the beach in Fort Bragg, CA. We think it may still be there, but we need someone to go and check it out for us. We would love to have the Baur plate number of this car.... and we would also, of course, love to have someone rescue it. It appears in the pics to be just steps from the Pacific Ocean."

Big news tonight, folks. Remember this car?
This is a 1976 BMW 1502 Lumma Conversion Convertible. You may recall that it was seen in Washington DC, and posted in BMW 2002 FAQ on 8/14/2011. It was originally from mye28.com, apparently.
Rather a sad-looking example of an extremely rare car, isn't it? But..... how many Lummas are there in the world?
http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/201...onversion.html
As you can see in the comment at the end of that post, I was contacted this afternoon by a fella in MA who purchased this car last June, and has since done considerable work to bring it back to life!
http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/201...onversion.html
I will add more info as I communicate further with him. He will be sending along some pics in the next week or two. We really look forward to hearing and seeing more of this very rare example!
Does anyone know how many Lumma convertible conversions there may be in the US?
Stay tuned!

Is this a Baur we know? I found this tonight here:
http://www.planet-9.com/automotive-o...-323i-cab.html
In Georgia.... we know a couple of cars in this color.....
Is it BruceH's car? I dunno. Here is a pic of Bruce's Baur:
The attached pic is the car discussed below. I don't know if it is Bruce's car or not.... remarkably close in color.... but I only cite it as a another possible example of.... It's a Small Baur World!
"BMW Baur 323i cab
I have been considering a cab of some sort for the last couple of years, and in that time came very close to trading in the CS on an incredible 2008 CarerraS cab, and found a couple of late 80s 911 cabs that would have brought the stable to 4 cars. The 997 would have been close to $40k over the trade in, and the late '80s cars were both about $30k. Just could not convince myself to spend the money one way or the other.
Then this past Sunday at "cars and coffee" a Baur 323i cab came in which I have seen before and through the BMW club, I am an aquaintence of the owner. At the time, I was talking to the owner of the indy BMW shop that I use, and he said that the owner had been considering selling the car.......
Well, we are trading emails, and the cost is very reasonable, so much in fact, that my wife really isn't giving me any grief and offered to go see it with me in the next week or so when we have some free time.
It is in outstanding condition, but I'll need to add a/c to it (no big deal, and understand the costs involved - all the a/c units were dealer installed back then).
Obvioulsy a gray market car, but given the age, not an issue either. A very rare car in general, and even more so in the US.
It seems like this is one of those rare occasions that pop up, and am seriously thinking about it. The owner is a stand up guy, the indy shop owner knows the car in and out, and it just seems like a fun, unique cab to have.
Any thoughts?"

BINGO!
OK, after nearly two years.....we have an update on the elusive Baur from Kettering Ohio!
Here is what we posted back in January 2011:
" Kudos to E21Adam for identifying that beautiful Ohio Baur! He saw it at the Ault Park Concours d'Elegance 2009. http://www.ohioconcours.com/carsbycl...%20-%20Present
Info from German contemporary class:
1982 BMW323i Baur Convertible
Owner - Erik Hunter
Kettering , OH
Now the question is to determine the VIN and Baur #s to see if it appears in Jeroen's pic list of 33 Baurs, or if it is another previously unknown car."
Baurspotting readers may recall that we have been searching for a Baur in the Kettering Ohio area for quite some time, ever since it was spotted at the Ault Park Concours.
Here are the pics we had:
http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-found-baur-cincinnati-ohio.html
We have made a number of attempts to track this beautiful Baur down, all to no avail.
Well, today we just got a little bit closer!
While emailing with Jim_75Sahara from 2002faq today (who lives in that area) I did a random google of Erik H. BMW, and look what I came up with! This is the car we have been looking for!

Thanks to Paul M in Kingston MA for sending me this link today. This is a NEW FIND! TC2!
1985 E30 BMW 323i Baur TC. Condition is poor. It was originally owned by the son of the Prince Spaghetti founder. It was then imported from Germany to my father. He used it for about 10 years. It did not pass inspection in 2001 and was left outside covered for approximately 3 years until the cover disintegrated. The car was then left in the weather from about 2004 until now. The rear plastic window collapsed allowing water in through the opening. The interior needs to be completely redone. The hood is dented in the front by the emblem and the grill is missing. Everything seems to be falling apart but the frame still seems to be in good condition. On the positive side the engine only has 70K, the frame of the Baur top and its components seem to be in working order, the LED sensor display seems to be in a good shape, the rims are in good shape, all the headlight and tail lights look ok, it has the chrome bumpers, and it has a custom wood steering wheel and shifter. Would make a good project car or can be salvaged for parts. I do know it is a very rare car. I read somewhere that only 200 of the Baur TC versions of the 323i were made in 1985. I was offered 1k for the car but figured I would list it to see if I could get more. Bank check or Cash accepted and will only deliver within 50 Miles of Kingston MA for $200. Otherwise will have to be picked up.

I am looking for a fuel distributor and warm up regulator for my TC1 323i M20b23
Pleasee Helpp! lol
does anyone have one? or know where I could get one? or what other cars have the same distributor?
thanks in advance
How did I miss this? Yes it is my Baur. Nice words from a good guy regarding my car. I am, and have been, considering passing on the Baur to another caretaker. That deal didn't come together as the prospective buyer decided that he really wanted something newer with factory AC.
