In case anyone is interested in learning about a fascinating guy, I just did a Baurspotting post on Lothar Schuettler, who has received numerous awards for his 1956 BMW 502 Baur and 1937 BMW 328 roadster that was Best In Show at the Hilton head Concours recently.

Lothar helped us out recently with one of our E21 Baurs, you may recall.... the widebody in VA.
Amazing story. Great stuff. Enjoy.

I have seen pics of three Baurs at Bimmerfest 2012 so far. Anyone know of any others?
Seth, I dont seem to have the Baur plate number of your car. Can you post it or PM it to me? I am putting together material on ALL the Baurs we have found in the US, and I hope to present them in order by Baur plate number. I have a number of pics of your car, but for some reason I dont have the Baur plate number.
Much appreciated.
Here are the three Baurs I have seen so far:
Koko's red TC1;
the red E30 TC2 that we have seen before;
and Sevan G.'s 316.

HOLD EVERYTHING!
Ras called me back today 5/25/2012 .... it appears that the guy from Maximillian may have the TC1 and the TC2 confused. Stay tuned: it isnt clear yet which locking latch is available. I will repost when it is gets sorted out.
I received a phone call today from Ras, a TC1 Baur (#2581) owner in Georgia. He has been searching for the convertible top latches for his Baur for a long time. He was very excited because he had just gotten off the phone with Maximillian Importing Company in MD, and they have located a source in Germany for the latches he needs!
Great news! Thank you Ras for the heads up on this!!

Bimmerforums member msbehmane36 contacted me this weekend to say that they have decided to sell the Baur restoration project they have been working on.
This is a pic from last year when the restoration started. Yes, that is my Baur on the right. We stopped to visit Scott and Mike on our way home from Bimmerfest East in August 2011.
The thumbnail pics: towing it home after purchase; previous seller pic in his shop.

My understanding on the E24 (6-series) Baur above was that it was not by Baur proper, but a little experiment by their UK licensee or something like that.
I remember seeing a Baur 6er in one the links at Ben Liaws Big BMW links and it was in the UK the page is no longer up and running I checked.
There was a company in Florida that did a complete convertible conversion and I belive they were sold through US dealerships I have never seen one however.

There were quite a few companies doing full convertible conversions back in those days when everyone expected convertibles to be outlawed.
Here is one of them.... the Griffith Company of Fort Lauderdale FL. They also did a roll bar-Baur-type conversion to the AMC Eagle (AWD!) and the Toyota Celica Sunchaser:

A 1978 320i is an M10 2.0L (4 cylinder). That is the US Spec fuel injected version with rear badging '320i".
If it were the M20, it would be a 320/6 (2.0L 6 cylinder). This is a carbureted Euro version. Any 320/6 in the US would be a grey market car. The rear badge on this, if any, would be a simple '320'.

Thank you for the clarification on that subject, so the 320/6 2.0L was never fuel injected in the E21 interesting, Was the 323 E21 offered in carbureted and fuel injected variations ? I would think that fuel injection system would have been CIS or was it L jetronic like the E30 323 ?

As you may have seen in yesterday's post, THEPOOLEMAN spotted the elusive New Hampshire Baur (that we have been on the alert for since last December) near a Burger King in Nashua, NH on 6/1/2012. He was on his lunch break from work when he alertly spied it. We should note that THEPOOLEMAN has stated on several occasions that he was on the lookout for this car in his home state, which we only knew from a couple of pics that we had: it was white, appeared in very good to excellent condition, and sported New Hampshire plates "YESS". We had no idea what part of NH, or even if it actually WAS in NH!
Well, we are pleased to congratulate THEPOOLEMAN on his success, a reward for his diligence and alertness! He nailed his quarry! Amazing, really.
THEPOOLEMAN was able to grab some pics with his camera phone before heading back to work, and he has graciously forwarded them to Baurspotting. Thank you to THE POOLEMAN for sharing these pics, and congratulations once again on a job well done!
I also want to take this moment to welcome the owner of the beautiful NH Baur pictured below: Mr. Rodney B.!! Welcome to our Baur community, and we look forward to hearing from you, and hearing about that Baur!
Without further ado, I am pleased to present: THE NEW HAMPSHIRE BAUR!
The NH Baur is the TC1 in the foreground. The TC2 Baur to the right is THEPOOLEMAN'S beautiful TC2 Baur.
Thanks again , Ed! And welcome to Rodney B.!

A super rare 79 BMW 320 Baur in great shape. Car came out of a Beverly Hills collection about 7 years ago. Previous owner did a mechanical update from a 4 cylinder 4 speed to a 6 cylinder 5 speed!. Suspension and exhaust updated as well. ALL brand new parts were used in this process, no expense was spared. Body and uncarriage amazingly clean. 61,000 original miles on the car, lifetime California car. Email me for pictures or to make an appointment to see this car. Won't last long!
