The seller contacted me about the following:
1979 323i Baur for parts
Item number: 270910726909
Here is the Ultimate Project Car! I have been the owner of this vehicle since it was imported back in 1985.The federal / DOT sticker is in the door jam. My ex girlfriend ran the car to hot one summer day and cracked the block - It has been garaged ever since. I have a replacement block and the original top end (see pictures). I basically have all that is needed to put this car back together. Little time and no energy to do it. The bad - The floor pan is rusted, dent on the passenger side door and the car has a salvage title. My bad on that when I bought it back from the insurance company. I was ingnorent at the time. The rest - it needs a lot of TLC to get her back on the road. This vehicle is worth a lot in just the parts.....Wheels with brand new tires at $300, the euro bumpers at $300, The recaro seats at $150, the 4 speed tranny and diff at $300, engine subframe at $100, the engine at $350 and finally the Baur Top at $ ? $ And so on and on - Again, I have all that is needed to put her back together, just no time or energy to do it. I will have this vehicle up for sale locally and by other means, so I will exercise the right to close the auction. I will expect a 50% pament via PayPal at the close of the aucten. The pick up is entirely upon the buyer in a timely manner. I truly hope that a collector / enthuist picks this car up and restores her.
Good luck bidding - Thanks

I will also be posting this in Baurspotting shortly.
Also he has another E21 for sale on eBay:

1981 BMW 323i E21
This is a very clean 31 year old car. It does hawever have a few signs of its age(see pictures) with some cosmetic rust. The major areas for rust concerns - the trunk, door sills and floor pan do not. It has a four speed manual tranny and yes I do have the matching 4th wheel. The tires are brand new Dunlops. Last year I spent over $500 taking it out of 'Non Op'. I have never smogged the vehicle. I was intending on restoring it but I have lost the energy and time to do so. I purchsed the car for over $5k some 6/7 years ago. The economy was good back then....right? My loss will be your gain - such as life ! She starts right up and runs very strong. This will be a great 323i project for the winner! I do have this vehicle up for sale locally and will reserve the right to close the auction. The car is being sold 'as is' with no return or warenty. I expect a payment of $500.00 at close of auction. The buyer is responsible for pick up at a timely manner. The remaining purchase cost to be paid at that time. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions. Thanks and good luck!

very rare E30 BAUR rescue roof retrofit. almost complete
ok, so i was wandering around the jy yesterday and came across a Baur e30 that some thoughtless tool turned in. as you know this kind of place will never sell you a complete car. it really makes me upset to see such a rare vehicle wind up in the crusher. Originally i pulled off the roof panel and a few pieces of proprietary hardware. last night i started thinking about this car kind of like the way my girlfriend looks at those dog rescue shelters. kinda want to save them all. anyway, i went back today and removed the entire roof area so it can be grafted onto another e30 coupe. as you can see by my sig, I have too many projects right now. if this doesn't sell, i was thinking down the road to fabricate it onto one of my ix's. as a result, i am not willing to separate any parts. all or nothing. i just want it to go to a good home where it is going to be put on a car and adored by its owner.
i know that not everyone finds a baur aesthetically pleasing, but they are awesome and they are very rare. not as pretty as an m3, but definitely much harder to come by. i could see this sort of project as something levent's shop might do. this top came off an 84 euro, but the good thing is that it can be made to fit any e30 coupe.
the setup is mostly complete. it is just missing two items: the driver's side quarter window was broken when i got to the car. also, the passenger side quarter window trim is missing. you will be able to see these defects in the photos below. i know of two e30 parts baur's a few hours west of here. i don't know if the guy is willing to sell parts off them, but at least it would be a start.
here comes the pix:
as you can see, all of the vinyl is really in excellent condition. it is dirty in the pix, but there are no rips, tears, or abrasions that i can see.
here is the vin if anyone with a carfax subscription feels like checking the history and posting it here. last digit is a 3.
Much, much more on the thread!
Thank you, robrez and thank you flyboyx! from the r3vlimited board!
I have also posted this on my blog, with credit to both of you guys for helping us learn about this!

This is a RARE E21 323i Baur cabrio. These cars weren't imported in the US -- they are gray market. That means someone personally imported them at great expense (federalization costs A LOT).
Baur (Stuttgart Germany) modified a limited number of these cars in the 2002, E21, and E30 body styles. NONE of them were sold to the US market.
This car was imported to the bay area, and for the past ~9 years it's been in NM. It is a RUST FREE garage queen.
It is a manual transmission, manual windows, steering, etc. White with black tops.
It has a 5 speed dogleg manual transmission -- most people have never seen (let alone driven) such a tranny -- reverse is where first gear normally is; first is where second normally is, etc.
New parts:
Engine: rebuilt with Ireland Engineering 3.0L kit (9.8:1 pistons)! I have extensive pictures and documentation of the build -- the kit alone was $2500.
$1200 in parts on the head rebuild (Schrick 272 cam). Big bore throttle body from Ed Mazula. Total engine build was north of $7k. I purchased the engine with ~20k miles on it after the car it was in was rear-ended and totaled.
All hoses
Clutch
Guibo
Engine mount
Extras included:
Extra cabrio top (try finding one these days)
Complete original engine (and engine stand)
Rear spoiler (not installed)
A/C from a 320i (not installed)
Ansa exhaust
MANY E21 and E30 parts
What it needs:
Custom exhaust (headers back)
Cold air intake
Fuel filter
Battery
Tires
It is NOT running at this time. It needs the above parts installed/completed.

The lock piston is ceased - probably from corrosion - and the teeth broke off the lever. To fix it, you'll have to pull the lever down, remove the metal shield the lever closes into. It's held in by one small Phillips screw. Remove the clip that holds the piston. Lubricate the piston with W-D40. Slide the piston back with a flat=head screw driver.
You'll need to replace the lever. I may have one... I'll check.

Baurspotter of the Week Award to bimmerforums member HenryHide1886 for messaging me about a Baur he spotted in a showroom window at Moran Motors, Berkeley, CA.
http://www.moranmotosport.com/
751 Folger Avenue
Berkeley, CA 94710
Phone: 510-548-7171
Click on "Sales".
http://www.moranmotosport.com/sales.html
You will see a pic of their inventory inside the showroom. Looking at the pic on the left side.... the third car from the bottom is a dark green E21 Baur! That is what HenryHide1886 saw!
The car can also be seen in a shot from outside the front of the showroom. Click on "Map".
http://www.moranmotosport.com/map.html
In the pic, just to the left of the map you can see the showroom window.... and you can just make out the distinctive amber turn signal and the bumper-mounted side reflector of the E21 Baur.
I will see if I can get more info on this, but in the meantime, thanks to HenryHide1886 for a great find!
Update: Google 795 Ashby Street, Berkeley CA. Go to "Street View". You will see a BMW dealer on one side of the street. Zoom around to the opposite side of the street where you will see Moran Motorsport. Zoom in close to the showroom window and you will clearly see the distinctive roll-bar pillar of the dark green Baur!

You should find three pics attached below. They each show the Beaufort Baur under three different ownerships: the middle pic is the original pic we found advertised when it was located in Beaufort, SC, hence the nickname; the garage pic was taken by eric, the guy who bought it and shipped it to CA; the rollback pic was posted by the new owner today, and it is now in his shop in Duarte, CA.
We look forward to watching as he restores it. His shop specializes in vintage BMW restorations, so this should be quite interesting!

I recommend checking with your local BMW dealer first. I've had great results.
I just purchased a set of these from my local BMW dealer and I think they cost me $22.00 - USD. They also were able to secure the metal brackets that hold them and the plastic pieces that attach to the rack in the trunk.
Bruce,
Here is the info for the clips.... the rest of the part numbers are on that page also.

Tom,
Call me dense but which ones are the rubber clips?
FWIW, I sent an email to the Baur Club offering the parts over a week ago with no response.
Thanks,

Hi Bruce,
Part #3... I am calling them clips, but the site calls them right and left 'hardtop support".
This would be unbelieveable to be able to get them at your local dealer! Wow. Thanks to Ryne for the heads up on that!
Incidentally, I have heard from others who have had difficulty communicating with the Baur TC Club. I don't know if it is a language problem, or what.

Congrats to Tom! I am pleased to announce that after checking the International Baur Registry and our own TC1 in the US listing that Baur #215 qualifies as : A NEW FIND!
It is a 1978 320/6. I am having a little trouble posting the pics that Tom sent me, but I will get them up as soon as I can.
Congrats to Tom, and welcome aboard! The car may require some work to get it on the road, so perhaps he could use some help from the PNWBBs!!

For sale is my BMW 325ix A Baur Convertible. Vermilion paint, black leather, with ski bag in the back seat, power windows, power, green glass, outside temp. Display. One of only 19 built 325ix automatic all-wheel Baur convertibles. Last entry in service record at 266165 km. The car has German daily admission has been approved anschliesend in Switzerland, where he had 2 owners, I have prepared for German and Swiss papers for the car, he is already cleared, and for approval in Germany. Among its shortcomings: no German TÜV, the BMW owner apparently had a little accident with a right rear, so the side panel above the wheel arch bit bumpy and dented the right corner below the bumper a bit. The droning engine starts, but not damage to the engine! The car has already been once, probably fully painted. The rear deck is not perfect. Here and there he has a few small signs of rust, not much. Have lots of pictures
