remember the light green baur from bimmer fest, well i came across is facebook page!
and i thought i would share with you because i dont remember if you found his info.
anyways here it is http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000088925552
Good man, rudy! This car just came up in the discussion the other day. We have seen this car in pics on several occasions at Bimmerfest, but we didn't have complete info on it yet. Jeff (Alaskabimmer) reminded me that he had posted the Baur # previously, which I had forgotten. We were missing the name of the owner and the location of the car (when it isnt at Bimmerfest, that is).
Kudos, rudy! You have given us a huge boost with your post, and I am hopeful that this will enable us to make contact with him, and get him on board. I wouldn't be surprised if he appears at the SoCal Vintage Show on October 29, so if we are unable to reach him before then, perhaps someone can 'chat him up" there and invite him to join us. Looks like a great example!
Thanks again, rudy! You Da man!

The post above was from December 2010, back near the time when we first started this thread. Bruce has now located the pics of the purple Baur in the Atlanta area. Kudos Bruce!
Here is the link to his post here in bimmerforums:

And it is now posted in Baurspotting also!

I did a little redesign of the Baurspotting blog today. I have a new page devoted to the Baurs that we have some incomplete info on, and that we are currently searching for:
The Baurhunter: Wanted... Crushed or Alive!
http://baurspotting.blogspot.com/p/b...-or-alive.html
It will include info such as what we received this week from BruceH regarding that rumored, now pictured, Baur at the shop in Atlanta, GA.
We are just getting started, but any other Baurs that we have partial information on will be included eventually. Your input is welcome, as always. We will be adding more to that page, as space and time permit.
Stay tuned!

Great showing from our E21 contingent at the SoCal Vintage Show Saturday!
One E21 Baur made it: Koko's beautiful example. we have seen his car before at the Bimmerfest show last May. Beautiful, Koko!
Look carefully in the background of the pic, and you can just see what appears to be a 2002 Baur Targa, next to the white 'Alpina' and the pickup model. No other info on that car yet.
About 30 E21s in total on the field, a GREAT showing by any standard!

I was contacted today by Ras, who owns a 1981 white 320i Baur. We have known about his car, but were unable to contact him to confirm his Baur plate number and location. So he has been listed on the Interim Status report as "Known Baur, Unknown Baur number". I am pleased to say that we will now be able to move him into the 'confirmed Baur' section.
Ras is looking for some locks and lock plates for his car, if anyone has anything for sale. He may be interested in an engine, also.
Update: This is what Ras needs:
"they are locks for the convertible top. Lock plate and if possible the locks that locks the top down." That would be a Baur specific part.
More to come, stay tuned. We are very pleased to welcome Ras aboard!

Stay tuned.... I have come across some amazing pics from a few years ago. The attached pics are just a little teaser.... much more to come!
Yes, that is the very first (#0001) and the very last (#4595) Baurs pictured together on a trailer, enroute to a show. As you may know, they are both owned by the same person.
The third pic is Baur #0001 as the owner first found it, before restoration.
More to come soon.

Thanks, Harry. There is a lot more to come... soon!
My information, as of 2008, is that 'yes', the same person owns both the first (#0001, shown above) and the very last (#4595) TC1 Baurs. Jeroen mentioned this a while back. He also said that he had the opportunity to buy Baur #4595 when it was for sale back then, but he just didn't have the resources at the time to purchase it. C'est la vie.

Hi Vance,
Great heads up on that Baur! That is a known Baur (#601) to us, you can see it on page 1 and page 3 of this thread. He had it for sale last year.
Here is the ad that the owner, Jeff, ran in July 2010:
1979 BMW 323I BAUR CONVERTIBLE. CURRENT CALIFORNIA REGISTRATION, TITLE IN HAND, 4SPD TRANS, GREEN EXTERIOR AND BLACK INTERIOR, $6,000.00 OBO NO TRADES! EMAIL OR CALL JEFF AT (760)880-xxxx.
Location: PALM SPRINGS
He has dropped the price, as you can see, from $6000 to $4000. He said it has a salvage title because it is a grey market car. ?? Mileage is listed as the same as it was a year ago.
Here is the pic from page 3. The original color was Chamonix (white).

As promised, I have just posted "The First Baur: A Restoration Project Pictorial, Part I", the first installment of what will be a three or four part series. Subsequent installments will show more of the decrepit state in which it was found, the process of restoration, and finally the brilliant finished product! Andreas did an outstanding job in restoring this historic Baur to its original glory. An inspiration to us all!

Tom,
Did Andreas also tell who told him about the whereabouts of the 4595?
Gr Jeroen
Hi Jeroen,
No, we haven't had a chance to talk about that yet. I just reached Andreas the other day.
I do recall that you told me that you knew #4595 was for sale back then, and that you considered buying it. But, if I recall correctly, the circumstances were just not right for you at the time to make the purchase.
Did you assist him in making that contact? I am interested to hear any pertinent information on the subject. He did tell me that he is the second owner of it. He also owns Baur #4593, btw.
On the subject of Baurspotting, I have been contacted this week by a fella named Curtis in California, who owns THREE Baurs (2 E21 TC1s and one E30 TC2). I am working on getting more details on that.
Also, I found these pics in the E21 legion facebook page, and I will be following up to track this new Baur down. It is, or was, in New Hampshire. Anyone know this car?

I would like to add to the nominations, the more the merrier. My bias is well known, and would like to see some Baur examples included somewhere... alaskabimmer and Koko, for example.
"I recently modified the car with a 1998 M Z3 S50B32 motor, six-speed SMG transmission (converted to manual) and differential, VAC Motorsports / JRZ Suspension (front and rear), aluminum fuel cell, 2010 M6 rear bumper cover (modified to fit), 3-piece Gotti wheels (staggered 7.5”x15” and 10”x15”) 1998 M6 front and rear Recaro seats and a few other modifications."
