    E24 options list thread, V3.0

I've volunteered to take over the duties of pulling the options sheet for those interested. Again, this service is offered for the E24 chassis only, and the lists can only be pulled from 1983 build date cars and newer. For whatever reason, BMW AG does not have records for older models, though I've heard that if you are willing to dig deep enough and bug the right people, that you can find this information. Perhaps others more knowledgeable than myself can shed light on this rumor that I once read somewhere.

If you are new to the scene and have no idea what I'm talking about or what an options sheet looks like, here's Taylor's old thread:
    http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ht=vin+decoder

You can look at the .pdf's there for reference.

I've checked through Taylor's thread, and it looks like all inquires there have been answered (if you were overlooked, post up here). From here on, please post your requests in this thread, and I will post back your options list as quick as I'm able. I'll be hitting crunch time with exams and projects on occasion as I'm intent on graduating from college soon, so there may be some lag time every now and then.

As a reminder, all I need is the last 7 digits of your VIN, and this is for the E24 chassis only.

7/16/12 - The following website was brought to my attention that contains the same options information that you can obtain in this thread, but it doesn't show up in a nice, handy PDF format. If you are just browsing around at cars and would like to know what the options were, I would recommend this method. Or if the format of the information doesn't matter much to you either, this might be a viable route. As always, though, if you would like to have your information pulled in a form like what is shown in this thread, then feel free to let me know. I'm just here to help

Sorry, but I don't have access to newer models. As stated in the thread opening, this service is only offered for the E24 chassis.

Not all of us from jaw-ja are that bad. I also noticed similiar post on Taylor's e24 only thread that was closed.

Really? Is it that difficult of a concept to grasp? Try to help people and this is what happens.

If you feed them they will keep coming...

I thought part of the reason you needed someone to take over for you was the overwhelming number of non-E24 requests?

I don't mind doing them, it is just some times I don't have time. I am burning some vacation today as I made it a long weekend so I thought I would be nice and do it for the guy.

The trouble, Kevin, with doing this is that it invites to this thread every E whatever owner who will expect to be helped based on your precedent.
Consider, please, that BMW now makes as many vehicles every month (including Mini's) as they did of the entire 13 year E24 production and you can see the potential for a deluge of requests as other boards link to this thread and know a good thing when they see it.
If you decide you don't have the time or the energy to pitch in here for every request regardless of model then you will leave Alex (who is cursed with a conscientious & responsible character) with the unenviable, time consuming and unenjoyable task of explaining to each supplicant that he can't help them. I know because I've BTDT.
So while I agree you have done a nice thing for Neoz, you have done no favour at all for Alex.
If you want to offer this service to everybody and take responsibility for it then why don't you start a thread in each of the other model boards offering same to them . You'll become everyone's favouritist guy but you'll have so little time for any other pursuits that you'll need to quit your day job !

Thanks Alex, great looking car. Something seems sketchy with the mileage (Autocheck) though!

Hope we all had a great Thanksgiving holiday for those of us who celebrated. Sorry for the delay, but I've been on mobile internet services for the holiday. So here's the latest requests.

Wow! Right you are. Interior on the 633 isn't bad, otherwise it's a re-spray candidate. Also, has been out of registration for years - registered last in Colorado, and has a title issue (Hawaii - exceeds mechanical limits; what does that even mean?). Does anyone know what California DMV will do to me if I try to register the car?

And thank you Alex for your help, as always!

"Exceeds mechanical limits" is typically a term reserved for cars that have 5 digit odometers with over 100k miles. Thus the true mileage of the car exceeds the mechanical limit of the car to tell you so. I'm surprised to hear of that on a car with a 6 digit odometer, though. I'd just call and check with the DMV to see if it will get through without issue.

Thanks Alex! Here is what I found out. The owner told me that there may be a kind of 'wrongful' statement from Hawaiian DMV accusing the car of rolling over. However, The car was then successfully registered in CA, and CO with no salvage title.

The car is now in CA, and I am considering taking a look - although, I may opt for a newer example. The car sounds like a good deal. Asking is $1,900, needs paint and apparently the interior is 'real nice'. It has 1 option - OBC - wow! That is a record low. If anyone is even remotely interested, let me know. Maybe I need a nudge to go see it anyway. Last registration is in CO, and is 3 years past due. I spoke to both, CO and CA DMVs, and neither cares or wants back fees as long as the car is not re-registered in CO 1st. The owner seems motivated enough to sell for a bit less.

Your list is attached. I was a little thrown off by the servotronic listing as well.
