Is the space normal for coil over and wheel?

Hi Guys, need your help here. I have fitted the FK coilovers. The right hand side wheel seems to clear the coil over ok but the left hand side (which is driver side in USA terms) is just clear of the coil over. I measured a mere 5mm or even less between the ring nut and the rim of the wheel.

However, the wheel hasn't been aligned yet so I am hoping the alignment will sort this out but is it normal to have such a small gap in between? Thanks.

What size rims and tires? that seems tight.

Which one is tight? 10mm? I am using 18" staggered ASA wheels. 8" front and 9" rear. The wheel size was recommended for E36 by Tire Rack (USA). Tire size is 235/40 front and 245/40 rear. But I am not sure about the second part of the tire size. Not too worried about the tire though. More worried about the rim.

Rubbing, really? Can't be too good for the rim and CO but good to hear though. Thanks. I think the alignment should do the trick of opening up the gap a bit more.

Just get a 5mm hubcentric spacer and an alignment, and double check you installed them correctly if you want to be anal about it.

5mm is a lot compared to what I have. I can't get a coin between them without shoving it in there.

You shoudl have 3mm or so to allow for some flex in the wheel under extreem loads. Just get a 5mm spacer.

Camber is not adjustable without camber plates and I think that's your problem. Either spacers or raise the car up.

I had to use a 3mm spacer with mine too and thats with my new wheels, my old wheels I used an even wider one.

If 5mm is all I need, then I think I should be fine. I can probably get it higher as the wheels haven't been aligned yet. The car is still in the workshop getting all the parts installed.

yes it is? alignments cover tow and camber. at least around here
