In NCS Dummy you can change the coding, then export the nettodaten files.

Hi, I have just bought a 2000 330Ci, and I have the DSC light coming on and staying on. I have installed INPA, NCS and NCS Dummy, and it seems to work. However, when I read the error codes in INPA for the engine, that is fine (no errors shown) but when I try to read any of the other modules (Body, Chassis, Transmission) I get IFH-0009 No Response from Control Unit.
In NCS I get COAPI-2020 errors and cannot even read the VIN. The car seems to run fine (apart from the DSC warning). Is this an error on my part somewhere, or is the ecu dead? If it is dead, would the car still run as well as it does?

Just tried to email revtor but it was bounced back by 'spamhaus" - but it did not say if it was the senders or recipient email address that was blocked, I have no issue with other email addresses.

Is the email address in the first posr still valid ?

Camberwell: There is most likely a problem with your diagnostic setup. Please start a new topic as this is not related to NCS Dummy.

crank.shaft: The address is still valid.

Here's the email I tried to send:

    ===

Thanks very much for your hard work on this, I am a new BMW owner and are just getting started with NCS Expert Coding, having also used Bimmercode.

I have a 2010 E93, and when I load in the CIC FSW_PSW there's a parse error with NAVI_VARIANTE_0A, and editing is disabled, but when I load NETTODAT instead, there's no errors.

I have also tested this using "BMW Coding Tool" and that also does not like this particular Key ID NAVI_VARIANTE_0A, but renaming it by removing the _0A fixes the error.

When I load the CIC module using Bimmercode, it does not throw any errors, and the key NAVI_VARIANTE_0A is listed as a valid key.

I have attached screenshots of NCS Dummy, BMW Coding Tool and Bimmercode, as well as the CIC trace files.

    Hope you can help ?

crank.shaft: The trace file you uploaded is a perfect match for module CIC.C10 - not CIC.C1A.

When you read the trace file from the vehicle, does NCS Expert really indicate CIC.C1A after reading (before reading NCS Expert shows what module it expects, after reading it shows what it actually found)?

I've tried several times to get NCS expert to load the files from my car properly, with no luck. I've verified connectivity with INPA and that's all good, and as you can see it loads my VIN properly. But I continue to get this error after loading profile, F1, F3, ECU select (CAS). Any thoughts on a fix for this? I have also made sure to have the newest Daten files, no difference in error.

I have added a parameter / value to the CIC module, I see that it updated the Daten Files, but how do I delete it again ?

I tried the Delete button, Ctrl-D and tried right clicking it, but it seems that I cannot delete it once it has been added ?

crank.shaft: That's right. Once saved to a module description file, NCS Dummy has no way to detect whether a parameter was originally present or added by the user. Deleting original parameters can potentially break NCS Expert, hence NCS Dummy does not allow you to do so.

But on the first change you make to a module description file, NCS Dummy creates a backup file. That backup can be restored in NCS Dummy via "Module Functions" > "Restore Module Backup...". You'll lose all changes you've made to that module since the backup was made.

There have been suggestions to add a special character like an asterisk (*) to new parameter names so NCS Dummy can always detect which ones were added manually. If more people think that's a must-have I might add it in a new version.

That does sound like a handy function and was about to request that, then continuing reading,
I see that’s already been thought of.

On the other hand, reinstalling the backup is easy.
Only when you added multiple custom values and then find out only the last one doesn’t work, it would be nice if you could simply deleted only that line, without having to add all others to the backup.

I'm trying to update checksums in an 0da file and I get the error
    Code:
An error occurred while updating "...path\test.0da": Syntax error near line 8192, column 2. Unknown keyword (CHECKSUMME).
I've tried doing it on existing 0da and get the same error. Am I doing something wrong here?

CarAbuser: It seems I introduced a bug in NCS Dummy 0.6.0.9. This functionality was still working fine in the previous versions...

Until I release a new, fixed, version you can use NCS Dummy 0.6.0.8 (download link). You can have 0.6.0.9 and 0.6.0.8 both installed at the same time as long as you put them in different folders or rename the executable.

I'm glad it highlighted an issue, I'll use 6.0.8 for now.

Thanks for the hard work, really appreciate a tool like this!

    Hello to all;
I've a question for you: How can I uninstall my old version 0605 of NCS Dummy for update-it with the new version (for me) who is 0609
Just delete the NCS dummy folder where is the executable?
No other manipulation to make in registry by example? (I'm on IBM T40 with old Version of NCS expert 3.0.8

Thanks by advance for your answers and sorry for this question and inconvenience...

    Have a great day

    Georges from France

PS 2 keys in the registry for me (XP 32bit SP3) one in Revtor folder and one other in the MUIcache folder

    EDIT: I've delete all the registry key and the folder with exe; seem what the 0.6.0.9 works find;
Really sorry for the inconvenience and thanks to Revtor for this pretty helpful software

storm11300: You already solved it, but for future reference: You do not have to uninstall NCS Dummy or remove its registry keys before updating to a newer version. Just replace files with the newer version. The new NCS Dummy version will simply take over the settings of the old version.

If you really want to uninstall NCS Dummy, you can execute NCS Dummy with following command line argument:

    NcsDummy.exe /uninstall

(it's the same as deleting the files and registry key but automatic)

    hello revtor,

Thank-you for your time and answer (don't know the method what you've explained here, for sure most simple )
I don't want uninstall definitively Your software, need-it for correct a bad reprogramming of a used KMB what i put on my E38... The man have make a correct work except on the type of car (always take as a KMB of 730D.. my car is a 735ia and naturally for the Engine, M57 for 730D, M62TUB35 for my car... )
As you see, it's really nothing, but not pretty good when you use of some other diag software.

In all cases a great thank-you for have take the time to read and give me this method for change the version.
Have a great day and most important in this disturbed times: take care to you and your beloveds

    Sincerely,
    Georges

A new version has been released: NCS Dummy 0.6.10! Refer to the first post in this topic for the download link. What's new since the last release?

    0.6.10 (2020-12-10)

    • Fixed broken update checksum of NFS files. A syntax error was reported for valid keywords.
    • Added filter mode to the find window. Filtering works exactly the same as the regular find functionality but hides all functions and properties that do not match the search item. Use shortcut keys CTRL+ENTER or CTRL+F3 to toggle the filter.
    • Added support for displaying the interpreted value of property arrays like FAHRGESTELL_NR[n].
    • Added possibility to drag and drop trace files over the entire "Modules and Traces" tab.
    • Added warning when "Strict FSW/PSW" or "Strict nettodata" are disabled.
    • Small number of new interpreted values.
    • Small number of new and corrected translations.

The most exciting feature this release is the new filter mode of the find window. To filter the graphical trace editor click the "Filter" button instead of "Find Next" in the find window or press CTRL+ENTER or CTRL+F3. This will hide all functions and properties that do not match the search item. The filter does not hide parameters. Undo the filter by clicking the "Clear Filter" button or pressing the same shortcut keys again. The filter is also undone automatically when making changes to the find window, (re)loading the chassis, module or trace file, switching to another tab or performing an action that selects an item in the graphical trace editor that is hidden by the filter.

When working with nettodata it may be convoluted to read the value of a property array like FAHRGESTELL_NR[n] because it spans multiple properties and may require bit operations. NCS Dummy will now display the interpreted value of these property arrays.

From now on you can also quickly load trace files by drag and drop over the entire "Modules and Traces" tab.

Ah wonderful. That filter options will save much scrolling on modules with many parameters.

    Guys, I've got a K-DCAN cable with a switcher.
What cars can i code with this one? Can I code a 2016BMW with ncsexper and ncs dummy?

I have two questions. Both are coding related.
    1)
Why does NCS Dummy show sometimes a text to an option, like:
    MK60_87.C06
    BAUART_MK60 - MODEL VARIANT
    e81_4zyl
    e88_4zyl
    ....

and on a newer coding index:
    MK60_87.C0C
    C0C_BAUART - Model VARIANT
    wert_00 - value 00
    wert_01 - value 01
    ....

under Options I can deduce what "wert_00" means, but what am I missing?

    second question is about MK60E5
if recoded to another vehicle, do I have to reboot it (wait for sleep mode) to have the coding change to take effect, or does it work just after the coding (without any powerreboot)..
my issue is, I want to code from 96 imp/rotation (magnetic ring) to 48 imp/rot (tooth ring) like the 1series 4 cyl. have. I hope I can change that via coding. I cannot read Nettodata from the dsc, I have already checked that. My coding index is c0c, and here it is very painful to check for options like I have showed in the question 1.
