The Bentley repair manual would make a far better reference.

Yeah...guess I assumed most of you guys would apply common sense where it fit.

Bentley is a great bit of advice G.P.

It's not terribly unusual for the impeller shaft to break inside the pump. To diagnose, you'll loosen the belt and spin the pulley by hand - if the pulley feels like it spins rather freely, then you've found the issue.

I've seen this multiple times, where the shaft breaks. I normally take a pry bar to the pulley and see if I can pry it away from the pump. There's an updated part out there, and a bulletin was issued... Old part was the "LF20" updated part is the "LF30" It is also recommended in the bulletin to replace the pressure hose and o-ring.

This one? "The customer may complain of an engine power drop at approximately 4000 RPM during aggressive acceleration."

Had it towed, and it is the PS pump and the hose has to be replaced also.....something to do with that they don't make the exact same pump for my car (325i w. sport suspension) and something to do with the fact there are 2 different ones...didn't quite understand. Don't know details. All that matters is that I'm just getting it fixed professionally

The power steering reservoir is not breathing! Just unclog the reservoir cap. There is a hole, clear it, using a 6mm drill, ensure that you can blow through it. Also, make sure that the coolant level is around 1/2 to allow for the breathing.
