Track junkies who go to Pacific Raceway...

I was wondering what lap times are you guys running at Pacific Raceway CCW...

    please post car/power/weight/suspension/tires

I've been to this only track twice with the e36 m3 and twice in the past with the 335i e92...

I think I am doing fine as I am able to keep up with more than half of PCA group-b and majority of the cars I see at Open Lap days...

the closest comparable cars I see most often are stg2 (~300whp) STi/Evo that I'm able to pull from t2,t5ab t6 t7 t8 and then they slightly catch up on the straight and t3b...

    running 1:40 fastest...

I want to get a rough idea what other e30/36/46 are running so I know how bad I'm doing...

Never been around it in a BMW before but I'm sure some people will chime in. My best time around PR is a high 1:40.xx in a Spec Miata with about 120hp and 205 width Toyo R-compounds. There is a ton of time in that track with entry speed but also very dangerous to go off on!

    Heavy 03 mustang cobra, running mid-low 1:40's.

I only run up to 100-110 on the front straight though. Other than that, the car is much faster than I am.

    *sigh*

The car could do 150 going into T1, I just don't see the point. If I was going to be going that fast I'd feel more comfortable with a 10 point instead of my 4 point.

I'll be at the afternoon lapping session this coming Saturday if anyone wants to join me

I agree, back when I was more willing to take risks on the track I ran my Mustang up to 133 or so (on the old configuration) through T1. It was pretty frightening, and that car had a roll bar/harnesses/etc.

I think self-limiting to 110-120 is pretty reasonable. It's not a race or ego show, it's just a chance to get out and drive the car.

Since they repaved T1/2 it has gotten a lot better... No more of that crappy pavement right at T1 apex!

Yeah, I'll bet it's worlds' better now. I haven't been out since they repaved but did take a look at it last year right after they paved.

so from everyone's response, I could assume that my lap time isn't too bad/slow considering I've only had 4 hpde track time and only a handful of mods...

I hit about 120-125 and only have a 4pt... after more track time I would feel more comfortable going any faster. if anything, I'm more focused on improving t3ab as that's the most difficult turn for me...I love 5ab6..

i can assume that Greg and advan must have had much more seat time at PR

Ive been racing a PR for about 4 years now....
your mustang has the power to do that kinda speed but my question pertained to the driver not how fast your going down the straight
real question is how close from the wall do you get....and what cone do you start braking going into t2, how much speed carry through the kink ect...

Must have misunderstood then. I thought you were asking why I wasn't going full throttle all the way until braking zone.

I'm already at 'max speed' going into the kink (100-110ish). I late brake down to 80 if I recall correctly and start accelerating as I swing down to T2 apex. I leave a lot on the table for braking and I know I lose so much time at that point that it isn't even funny.

I get reasonably close to the walls (within a couple feet). I try to follow 'the line' even when I don't need it for traction purposes. I figure its better to practice it at slower speeds before I up the ante for SCCA competition or similar.

As to the driver (Me!), I admit that I suck at it. The car is the only reason I can do what I can do as well as I can

When did they repave? I was there back in june and the straight was as bumpy as ever!

No time for me so can't compare.

I'd say if you're running a 1:40 flat then you are going very fast, yes.

They repaved T1 apex through T2 exit, nothing on the straight.

I asked instructors who race at PR and they said that Pro3 class (stripped e30's, 150hp, etc) cars run ~1:37.

The new Porche GT Cup cars run 1:27's

    For what it's worth...

Heh. I was going to call BS, then a thought dawned on me.

    HPF went to PIR.

    Not PR.

The best improvement you can do to a car is become a better driver.
