For anyone interested, or who doesn't want to rebuild their own, I paid about $90 for a brand new beige leather armrest assembled and complete from the dealer a few weeks ago. ( I get a bit of a discount, but I think list price is just over $100 )

Great DIY, will save me a great deal of time trying to figure all that out.

    ^ Haha, old thread revival!

Just want to say that my car came with an eBay cover, and it wasn't that great. It fits funny and the leather feels cheap, and the color is a bit off. But it was cheap, and it looks OK. I'll worry about that once I graduate and get a real job.

Great write up. Helped me remove and replace my arm rest in my 97 M3 during my lunch break! Thanks again for sharing!

Wow, blast from the past! lol Well 7 years and about 50,000 miles later and the armrest repair is still holding up great! The shift boot otoh is getting worn and has a couple of holes ... but that one was done probably 10 years ago. So all the Redline goods held up well. The wheelskins steering wheel cover ... not so much.

I'm glad this has helped a few people. Thanks for the nice comments.
