I have a 2000 323i (4-door) and the plastic trim around the rear door has fallen off. Photo below:
I ordered some plastic clips to reattach it, but they are the clips that go into the body (with the expanding rivet at the center). It turns out that I actually need the clips that go on the trim itself as shown:
I have scoured the parts drawings, but can't find this clip. I think it might actually be part of the trim and not available separately. If that's the case, is there a source somewhere for these clips? I really don't want to replace the entire trim piece (at no small expense) just because of some stupid little plastic clips.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Be advised that what you may have currently installed may not be the correct part.

I think the clip is part of the moulding.

It might be gold - as hard to get as it is! I think it's supposed to be white, but is badly discolored. The one pictured is the only one remaining.
Negative.I'm willing to bet that its #16
16 FIXING CLAMP RIGHT NATUR 51138189020 $0.55
16 FIXING CLAMP LEFT SCHWARZ 51138208503 $0.55
I'm beginning to think that it's part of the trim. Dangit!

RealOEM claims that 7 of those clips are used per side. But I'm going to assume that's throughout the entire window trim, whereas you're just dealing with the rear trim portion. With that, maybe someone else knows how many clips that rear part uses.
EDIT:
I now have reason to believe that the clips are integrated into the trim.

What I wanna know is how that stays on the trim?

Yup. It's a different part, unfortunately. I even looked in other areas of realoem to see if it was used elsewhere. No joy.

The clip you need is unfortunately part of the trim. The only available replacement part is the entire long trim piece, part #13 in the RealOEM diagram.
For your 323, you'll want part #51138208499.
@Joe: In your catalog, you refer to the matte black (51138208499) as "Shadow Line", and also the gloss black (51132695281) as "Shadow Line." The former is plain matte black (SCHWARZ); the latter is glossy black Shadowline (GLANZSCHWARZ).
Mine has been slightly broken since I bought the car. It stays in place as long as the door is closed, but if I open the rear passenger door, the whole trim piece wants to come off. Other then replacing the whole trim piece ($150+ for the silver), I have not yet found a solution.

51138208499 is only $91 at Tischer (getbmwparts.com)
and $83 at Faulkner (bmwpartssource.com)
Not bad!

I was afraid of that.
How about a kluge, then? I can get my hands on some pretty strong double sided tape. Any other ideas?
The trim is actually missing on both sides. I have the trim pieces, just not the clips. So I really don't want to spend $300 if I can help it.

Are you actually missing the white clips we have been talking about? Or have they just separated from the trim peice?
I had luck glueing mine back to the trim using Gorilla Glue. So far so good, only been a few months though but the glue looks to have taken hold really well.
Hmmmm. You just gave me an idea. I have some Mighty Putty and might try that.

Billy Mays FTW!!!!!
FWIW: I'm not trying to reattach the clips to the trim. The clips are gone, baby, gone. I'm now trying to reattach the trim to the car without the clips since they are unavailable by themselves.

I advise against this....
Why? The worst that can happen is that the trim comes off again and gets lost. Since it's likely that I'll have to replace the entire piece anyway it seems worth it to try. Maybe I'll get lucky.
Or am I missing something?
