I remember that ad. I also had one of the first 1983 GTI's.

Well I have to admit, that being I grew up in the muscle car area, that I'm a fan of "small spoilers". I couldn't find any small enough for my car, so I made my own. It's completely bolt on, with no new holes drilled and can be taken off with no trace of it ever having one.

I'm not opposed to spoilers in general but I think they need to match the vehicle. Taste is subjective though. For Z3s, I definitely think, the smaller the better. The one below is the exception for me. I don't have a full view of it but its the largest one I've seen that looks at home on a wide body or M Roadster. 'not sure about the face-lift but maybe. I like how it's low to the trunk and follows its curve.

I do think people can and should do what they like. My earlier comment was to make a joke because it seemed kind of odd to respond to a guy from a 14 year old post.

Most add-on spoilers add more drag than they gain in downforce. But as many have said, if you like it, do it.

Well that's a good color choice for the spoiler then.

I'm not sure of the exact dates but I think you are about right. I'd have to check but I believe mine is either a 3 or 4/99 It's the wide body pre-facelift. Here's a couple of photos of it.

I've got the style 68 staggered rims on it with 20mm spacers in the rear.

Here's a shot of the interior.

Hoyt, Remind me again.... How many gators did you have to wrestle down for that interior?

Thanks. No snakes were harmed to make those panels. It did take me about 2 years of searching to find faux snake skin of that quality. I originally bought it to cover a motorcycle seat and had some left over so I decided to use it on the Z3.

I used this '57 Corvette dash as a model for my gauge faces.

That's actually my garage door opener. I wouldn't want someone opening my garage door while we were 100 miles from home! If someone does push it, I ask them how many times? so that I can push it again, if need be to close it again.

I do have an eject/cigarette lighter combo visible in the photo below. If someone asks, "which seat is it for?", I say, "push it and see."
