    323is Express

Dropped the motor off at the engine builder today so I think its about time I started up a thread. I'll continue to update as things progress. Not the best at doing write ups but this will be a general idea of whats going on then I'll post results when done.

    Set up:
    M52 block/head
    OBX Topmount
    Precision BB 6262
    S52 crankshaft
    VAC Oil Pump
    K1 Rods
    84.5mm 8.5:1 compression pistons
Evosport Turbo cams intake 290 deg with .475" lift, Exh 282 deg with .440" lift
    Supertech Valvetrain
    SBS5 Clutch
    F1 (ebay) flywheel
    ZF Transmission swap

    Here's a few random pics

That's all for now. Opinions welcome

Opinions = BADA$$ choices so far.

    The best foundation
    a built CORE

Are you going to stay OBD2?
What suspension/chassis upgrades have been/will be done?

    Have you been FI before?
I see IC in 1st pic.

I have been SC for two years. Car was lots of fun but now its time to take it up a notch.

Suspension consists of Bilstein coilovers and Vorshlag camber plates.

Also swapping in a ZF tranny. Vorshlag motor and trans mounts.

I'll reveal whats going on with tuning at a later date

Very nice! Where did you source the OBX manifold. It seems like everyone is out.

BTW, who is doing the tuning?

I was lucky enough to get one off a BF member who was not using the manifold. Sent it out to Swain tech for coating, I'll post pics when it comes back.

Previous FI was an AA C30 kit which was fun only complaint was the tune was not perfect not bad but not perfect. Since AA doesn't or didn't have a tune for a 323is I used a 325 tune. This setup worked well and was fun but was not perfect.

    Anyhow time for more PowR!

was the kit completely bolt on? no changes, just the 325 kit, except for m3 front bumper to fit the intercooler? did you do the midpipe swap as well for 328/m3 midpipes? pm me if you would like

Yes completely bolt on except for the bumper. I even still had full stock exhaust, except for a Supersprint cat back. I ended up selling the kit here for $1800.

Still waiting for my motor to come back from the builder. In the meantime I have been gutting the car getting her ready for a jungle gym.

Also going to install a TRM Walbro fuel kit this weekend. Does anyone have instructions on this? Maybe it will be obvious once I take a look but just want to make sure everything is pointing the right way and clamped in the right spot.

The kit should have come with a huge instruction manual. TRM can send you one if you need it.

Hmm mine didn't come with instructions. I'll contact TRM.

NICE! im currently looking at turboing my 323is as well im very interested in how you are going to tune the car. also ive been looking into doing an s52 crank swap, M50 manifold and ive been talking to TRM and they were telling me about their "frankenstein" motor with an 85mm bore and S52 crank. If you start with an 84mm bore like your 323 this is an easy thing to punch it out to....having 84mm bores though gives u a good thickness in the sidewall which can take some serious boost pressure! what are you power goals? what will the car be used for?

    Motors back from the builder

Bolted up the manifold, looks sick with the swain tech coating. Was able to get the motor and trany in over the weekend. Still need a few odds and ends then I will be sending it to a local fabricator for intercooler piping, exhaust.

    Some random pics...
