I know this is an older thread but i was wondering how you mounted your intercooler. I have a similar sized one and am having troubles finding how to mount it in a reliable place

I had similar issues, trying to find out how people mounted their intercoolers (most have side mount options, but my mounts are top and bottom). Also note that I have removed my AC, so my Intercooler is possibly mounted back further than other peoples. I fabbed up a bracket made out of angle iron, welded on two end plates and bolted it through one of the holes that the nose cone uses to mount to the car.

I'm also going to make a bottom mount so the IC is mounted top and bottom for additional support. Still sussing out how to do that as there isn't much to work with in the front of the E36's.

For the intercooler I used square tubing to make a frame around the mounting points of the, top & bottom of the intercooler. Then made brackets on each side to bolt onto the car where existing mounting points were. Its very sturdy and does not flex at all.

What part of the car did you attach the square tube to hold it in place? Just one or two of the 4 bolts holding the front end of the car on?

Been a while since my last update. Did some changes to the turbo setup...Now running a bottom mount Steedspeed twinscrool manifold with the same bb 6262 except with twinscrool exhaust housing. I love the setup and is performs much better when the previous top mount. Been daily driving for quite some time now. I had issues with the paint on account of my air compressor dying during paint, but anyhow its good enough for now and I will be redoing it once I get my sons e30 done and out of the garage. Also completed a m52 swap into a 318ti, picked up a Z4M Coupe and Kawasaki 1500sxr so been super busy. That's all for now. More updates when the MSPNP for obdII comes out and I go E85 or when I redo the paint whichever comes first.

Also I don't know how my pics come up upside down, they are not saved that way.

Hard to recall it's been a long time but I used all four mounting points of the intercooler. I got rid of the long sheet metal plate with triangle looking holes in your first pic and mounted brackets to the intercooler square tube frame to those attachments points. Hope that helps.

    You hanging out in Australia?

All jokes aside, thanks for the info. That's helpful. Hopefully this week I can work on getting something fabbed up to hold mine. That square tubing looks like a good solution

Small update. Picked up some Porsche calipers and CSL rotors. Rebuilt the calipers and powder coated, came out pretty well. Also added another BMW, this one is faster that the turbo car in stock form!

Small update, paint was redone as well as stock style bumper fitted. Future plans include MSPNP, e85 conversion and really want to get the interior professionally upholstered.
