Was wondering where I could find the valve body rebuild kit for the 5hp30 in my 93 740i. Thanks

There you go.
Thanks looked and looked just didn't look in the right place. thanks again.
This is the same kit I need for my 03 740il right ?
The VB kit is used on ZF 5hp30 transmission on the following cars: all E32 740il 740i E34 540i and E31 840ci; E38 740il 1995 only
My 94 740i is still running, my only problem is the transmission won't go in reverse. And I smell a burning plastic under the chassis near the transmission. Any idea how this problem could be fix? Is it the valve body or the transmission itself need to be replace? I appreciate your help sir.
Disintegrated check ball in the valve body - very common

They're idiots. You can buy a valve body rebuilt kit for like 200 bucks.
I don't know who to recommend, but I'm sure if you do some digging you can find a talented shop who will take it on

dont just replace the check ball rebuild the entire thing.
This is why bimmerforums (and the others) is so great. I am leaning this way with my trannie as it seems to be in limp mode when in "A" but works flawlessly in winter mode. Is the rebuild process really that straight forward that an ambitious weekend warrior could accomplish?
@eNlite10
you are in the wrong forum here, we talk about E32. You either have to visit the E38 forum for probs with the 1998 740, or for the E23 www.bimmerboard.com E23 forums, where the specialists for the E23 are.
Rebuilding: I have done at least 10 4HP24. It is not rocket science. Buy a repair manual from ATSG, buy the repair sets, plenty available, wear parts only or also steel parts, and then take you time.

Erich, I think once I pull my 5HP30 out I might just rebuild it so I know how it's done and keep it around as a backup..I'm sure I'll be buying another V8 eventually, and statistically, it will probably be a manual
I wish I could rebuild the Getrag at home...

I am still figuring out how to get those darn torx screws out :\

Indeed. Virtually nobody is willing to rebuild these boxes..except one man who goes by LSCman. Well known guy in the E39M5 community as a specialty rebuilder. It's just tough, because there are so many people out there who need rebuilt getrag and he's one of the only people who can do it, and he does it as a hobby...

Well ordered the rebuild kit thanks again. Do i have to put the lifetime fluid back in it or is there a suitable alternative to run in them.
Hello to all helpful friends in this site. I think I'm having a problem to find the talented mechanic in my area. I asked another two mechanics and one of them is a bmw specialist, still they both advice me to replace the transmission. I don't have that much money right now. And I'm having hard time to save money. But I don't want to give up my 740i. I found a valve body from ebay and here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-ZF-5HP30-540I-740I-740IL-TRANSMISSION-VALVE-BODY-/260465488512?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item3ca4f3f280
I don't know if this one would fit to my '94 740i, before asking the seller. To tell you the truth guys I haven't seen what the valve body look like. And I'm not really a mechanic. Thanks to you all and more power to you guys.

Out of curiosity, who have you tried calling so far?

Good news to all my friend from this site, my 740i's transmission went back to normal. I can use the Reverse now without hesitation. I can back up the car without calling somebody to push it backward LOL. This is what I did, jacked up my car in one side, and use a ball hammer and hit (not to hard tough) every corner of the bottom of transmission and viola!!! it's work. I think the check ball got surrounded of dirt or old oil. I think, my next thing to do is to change the transmission oil and engine oil to make it run perfect, correct me if I'm wrong sir.
BTW about your question sir, it's better to keep it to my selft, because I know these people and they're nice too. I don't want to ruin their reputation. I know they have family to feed too. Have nice day to all of you.
You better get it fixed before you destroy the transmission.
Back to the question. Do I have to run the lifetime fluid in it or is there a alternative i can run.
