    Navigation or not??

What do you guys think about this option for the M3?

Who would pick or have picked it for your car?

(I personally didn't want it for my car, but that's just me)

    Thanks for the comments.

I love it... people all laughed at me for getting it when I got my car. Now I laugh at them...
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

Get navigation or you're gonna regret it later on, especially if you see another M3 with it =]

Nope... no NAV-TV. I really wanted to, but to get the system, it's like $1800 for the TV and DVD player which is crazy. I'm waiting until somebody makes a better system for less. It's not worth $1800 to watch TV in the car...

the only thing i dont like baout the nav is it gives you weird directions. like it will tlel you to exit from the freeway and make you travel like 10 miles on the street from your destination. other than that i like it

and i am also waiting for a better system than Nav-TV. but im still thinking if i should get one. hah

Excuse me, but if you don't know where you're going or how you're going to get there, wouldn't it make more sense to have a Hummer than an M3? You can load those suckers up with On-Star, quadraphonic sound blaster music, TV, DVD, refrigeration, stove, BBQ, etc. Don't mean to flame you guys, but NAV just isn't my cup of tea.
I'm out of bed and dressed. What more do you want?

Cant live without the Nav. It looks beautiful...completely flush with the dash. She does sometimes take me longer routes, but its never on all the time. The map stays on the screen, but i only use the GPS when im goin somewhere new and dont know how to get there. I love how it always displays your exact coordinates on the map. TC M3 it really cleans up the lines inside the cabin. Also since the upgrade to a DVD based system it is alot faster and accurate and you don't have to wait 18 minutes for things to load up. The other great thing is, if you don't know an area very well and need to find a gas station or restraunt it will give you a list!!!

This is my take on it:

It's better to regret HAVING something, than regretting NOT having something.

    /cry

I stubbornly insisted on getting a Sterling Grey, and it really really sux to be waiting for so long for meh car.

I am sure I would have really really hated myself if I just had gone ahead with a stock color, but the wait is s_cking a phat one.

The additional 6 week wait is killing me(not that I am even sure that it will only be an additional 6 weeks).

I'll prolly be getting the car in early Feb.

    /cry

Well if/when I get meh car, it will be a M3 Coupe, Sterling Grey/Black, SMG. HK, 19"OEM, Premium Package, Nav, and Xenons.

If it's the DVD nav... DEFINITELY go for it. My last Bimmer had the CD nav and it SUCKED!!!! But I love my DVD nav... it's just awesome. Looks great too. And like said before... you'll regret it when you see an M3... or even a 325.... that has it!!

One of the reasons I sold my 01 M3 for my 04, was the Nav. Dave

After being in my beater everyday for the past month, I have come to the conclusion that NAV is vital to me.
If you drive a lot, and are not patient, Nav is for you.
I can't explain on how many occassions I have been in grid lock in Downtown Toronto, and have gone through streets that cut my driving time by half.
Also, if you go on road trips often, it is an added convenience as you and your fiance won't get into fights to ask for directions haha.

The Navi is so worth it

Got it on my 04' M3. It's cool when your driving and looking for the next fast food resturant, gas station, atm,....
It really usefull when traffic is really bad and you want to find an alternate route.

It makes the car look so much better. You can view the radio stations on it, the on board computer functions. If you get a video convert (simillar to Nav TV) you can watch DVDs, or hook up your laptop to it (when safe).

Think of it as this, you spend most of your time inside the car, you might as well have something to entertain you, especially when your stuck at a long traffic light.

    My 2 cents

P.S - I Also tease my friends when they ask me for directions to a resturant or something, I just say, "Dont you have a navi"

DVD Nav is awesome. Get it. I even updated the internal software to a newer build that fixes some bugs with the previous build (now at 4-1/20). I also recently updated the DVD software to 2003.2. I can't live without it when traveling to new places far far away from home.

Kev, have you seen the TVonNAV ? It's less money and you can change channels with the steering wheel controls. I have 2 other guys who want it. Maybe we can get a group buy.

Also, get get around the mono stereo, you could install the aux input and use that for the audio input from the DVD player. The players are pretty cheap, less than $200, even through crutchfield.

Is it difficult for a dealer to retrofit a DVD nav system to an 01 without nav or an 02 with the CD nav?

Aus, I would be intrested in getting TVonNAV if we could get a good group buy price. Why not start a thread to see who would be interested.

I'd like to get 5 people interested and then send them an E-mail to see if they have any interest in getting a GB for 5 and then again at 10 units.
