The time has come my e39 swap is no more. Economics dictated that the car had much less value as a running car than as a pile of parts, so parts it is:
It has been a great ride, literally. 5 years and over 100,000 miles of fun.
I will be posting the parts that I kept so stay tuned for detailed posts in the classified forum.
Otherwise I will be out of the BMW world for the time being.

Scrap prices are very low in the area so the car had to be cut into dumpster sized pieces.

Huh. I would have thought an LSx ready e39 rolling chassis would be worth more than $300 in scrap, but I guess we all have to deal with it some day.

Scrap around here is $70 a ton... Lucky if that's $70 of scrap there. Not worth the time selling a roller imo either, been there, done that.

IMO Best thing to do in this situation, just post it on craigslist "free for scrap". I did this recently and had several people chomping at the bit to come get the car that had zero interior, suspension, driveline, aka stripped. I didnt lift a finger and had a guy scrape the poor carcass off the floor of my garage. Was sad and nice to have been done with it.
Rao, its so dis-heartening to see your car end up like that, but do understand.
