Well my first thread in bimmerforums
i started it because this week i have a meal with a bimmerforums user, who said that is the best forum. Also i want to know that i'm not as crazy that i think with you opinions
well this is my 635csi '79, when i bought in 2009
here in the first day at home
this was good days ... only a car and a driver ...
then we started the "project", first the engine... the original engine has a crack in the block....
the car waiting for the engine...
i started the "curse" of searching for an engine (m90), really hard to find one. I do the search across all spain, and across the internet.
I had help from bpoliakoff of bigcoupe.com (i supose is here also). He said to me to contact to wokke (in germany), and then across he, we found this.
continuing with the bad luck, when we open the "new" engine, we found this in the cilinder head
with the help of wokke we solution this issue... and we continue with the engine
5-speed getrag
... it will continue ...
then we started with the interior ...
a mess
some days after
after this we start with some serious issues
me working or trying
cutting and more cutting
rust and more rust
the bottom was a big job
the original project, was to make an original 6-series, but seeing the real status we change a "little" the main thing:
Here is were the things go crazy
this is the actual car-status, we a finishing and preparing the car for paint. I hope in setember the car will be ready to mount all the parts
We will paint the car with inka-colour, like this
oh my....
i see a lot of work that i've already gone through with mine
and a lot more that i need to do yet....
great work! anxious to see the rest of your progress.
2004 Monaro CV8
2006 Range Rover Supercharged
1984 BMW 633CSi
1981 Scirocco S
meanwhile i have done some restauration works with the original parts, and also bought some new parts ... here is a selection:
my garage ... a mess
some restaurations:
screws, nuts, and more from the rear-axle
more new parts:
the gas pedal (the original was broken by me dismounting it )
some miscelanious things about the project:
Wow! Welcome to the forum, that's a very very nice project you got there! I'm going to follow this one for sure.
What did you do to fix the broken head? And are those new or refurbished pistons? Are you going to run the original L-Jetronic fuel injections system, or are you going to use something newer?
Good luck with the rest of the project!

i miss the greetings
thanks to Jordi from m-traccio (http://www.mtraccio.com), i hope we can make some bmw2002 in a future . i learn a lot with you . If you are in spain, and want to make a "real" restauration is the place to go
thanks wokke for the precious-help with the project and the lastweek meal (i hope i can go to see you in germany when i have the car finished, and some money to spend in nürburgring also)
thanks, we want to make a good car ... and then win some TSD rallies
With the broken head, wokke make some "magic" with it. It's repaired.
By now the engine will use the original l-jectronic injection system. But we have talk to put 3-carburators (webbers)... maybe in a future

This is great! Very impressive work. I'm going to start working on my 635 soon, this gives hope that it can be done
You are lucky to have so little rust, hehe!
Keep up the good work and pictureflow!
Martin
Awesome thread, and welcome to the forum! I love threads like this, and I'm very excited to see that you're planning on painting the car inka. Love that color, and that Jagermeister car is probably my favorite group racer that I've seen.
Alex
Looks great, and you will love the M90 also!
Great car, and great project. But please tell me that you didn't paint your engine block Chevy orange.....
thanks for the welcome to all
the car will be inka color (all the body), the roll-bar, baquets, arnesses and all other parts, in black. Only the engine-bloc is red (the master says it gains 5hp with that )
the backets are this (already at home):
i doubt in the sterring wheel ... from this one (momo prototipo)
or alpina one
I'm curious as to how an E9 color would look on an E24:
But it might turn out pretty awesome, I look forward to seeing it.

+2 on the Alpina! This is an epic build and I have subscribed to it hah. Can't wait to see more...
Moises, welcome to the world's best BMW forum and thanks again for a wonderful evening.
I'm convinced that together with Jordi's help you'll have a great racer in the near future. Just make sure B. doesn't drive you nuts And if you need any help in whatever way : you know how to reach me.
Looking forward to a race weekend on the Nürburgring. Jägermeister 635CSi vs. wokke M635CSi
Cheers

P.S. YES, Bert is of course on this forum as well.

Well, sometime up, and sometime down .... down time now
we prepared the right door for painting and we discober a rust-temple
the bottom of the door is completely rusted... so i'm in searching for a right-door by now. If someone knows or have one please indicate
Are you looking to preserve as much of the door as possible? I've seen a few local race-prepped cars that have only the out door skin in the car. Granted, they also have some extra bars inside the door to beef it up.
Observation: Maybe it's the fact that the door is off the car, but the forward roll bar looks a little further back than what I've seen on some cars in person. Seems like this might hit your knees while you are driving. Just curious!
Alex
Awsome!!
If you want, you can do mine when your done with yours , great job
