BTW the thing in my mouth has a story too. I'd lusted after the shifter knob almost as long as the transmission, since I saw it on the GForce display GSR 3 years ago. I've been looking for one just like it casually since then and was never able to find it. Most of the knobs out there are the hurst ball types or various funky designs. I needed a few parts from GForce like the spacers and gear to drive the oil pump, the shifter console and the output yoke so I also asked if they'd sell me the knob and stick. Got in touch with the owner of GForce and he said sure. I asked, why couldn't I find one. He said we custom machined it for a driver.
Danica Patrick.
On the up side, Danica Patrick has vigorously and extensively yanked my knob.
Looks like it has a blown 2nd and 3rd gear. Sorry bud.

Still a lot of plans and goals but relative to the start of the thread, this can be declared mission accomplished. And yes it's every bit as fun as it looks.

Yeah absolutely, there are many seconds that I can shave by simply coasting less (which will also mean 180mph into 8 among other things) but there is also a ton of cornering speed to discover. But the car has delivered in every way I had hoped and then some.

It's not over, not by a long shot Should be some really cool shit coming up this fall too. The car will be at PRI this December!
Thanks for being a part of it man, manifold's still kicking ass!
Wow, very nice bro. She looks so composed!

Haha, no it really is, thanks dude! I'm looking forward to going back and leaning on it harder. I have a feeling that the pace will be pretty mind bending by the time I get it up to the point where it starts sliding around a bit in the fast stuff. But I've never experienced a car like this and I've been in some pretty cool stuff incl a 991 GT3RS. The Penskes are the real deal. It has 1100lb springs and it feels... supple! I know this track well and I was inching up the pace and preparing for bumps that I know upset lesser cars and I barely felt them - like riding over a pot hole in a big 80's caddy - you can tell you hit it but not so you'd really know anything happened.
Looks good, man, keep up the good work. The transmission is cool. I am glad you are taking your safety seriously. S**t happens quick.
Thanks! Yeah I am not the type to throw it on blind faith, I want evidence that the current level is safe first, establish the new comfort zone, then take a step out of it.
This fall will be interesting. I'm removing the VEMS, Racelogic and the fusebox, going with an AEM Infinity and solid state power.
Final track visit before taking the interior apart to begin installing the Infinity and PMU. Still cruising but getting really comfortable with the car. Cruised to a GT1 lap time before my left rear tire blew. Thankfully it was on the slowest part of the circuit so the save wasn't dramatic. Haven't touched it yet to see wtf happened but a few guys reported finding nails in their tires this weekend. May be from all the roofs being replaced around town this year. Definitely opened my eyes to having a tire inspection item on my preflight checklist.

that fresh paint is why you're going so fast now!
Thanks a lot man! It's been one hell of a journey, and I mainly can't believe that all this shit I built actually works and works so well! Definitely wouldn't have been the success it is without Notorious VR's tireless work in perfectly and patiently calibrating it at every step. I was frankly dreading driving it a bit because I had gone so far without much serious testing and many people shitting on my plans (too much power, too much tire, too much wing, wrong car, E30 suspension sucks blah blah blah), that I started accepting that maybe I'll just be a builder. And I would have been fine with that, I'm mainly enjoying the challenge of learning how to do all this stuff. But now that I know that not only does it work on track but it's also the easiest to drive car I've ever experienced on track, I'm only more excited to keep going and see what my future plans bring.
