Background:
As some of you know, im currently building a 357Ti and had acquired a parts car to pull a few body pieces from to complete it. Well, once underneath the chassis of the parts car, mind you, it has 170k on it, there was absolutely 0% rust on it. Everything seemed to have been maintained and taken care of by one of the previous owners.
I purchased the car back in January for 400$ with no wheels and a salvage title. Once down there with the truck and trailer, we installed a set of Mille Miglia MM-2 18x8 Rims to roll it on, since they kept the stock wheels. The car had been put up on the forums for a part out and i wanted the door, hatch, fender, and some other small stuff from it to complete my 357ti but the guy wanted a decent amount of money for them so i bought the whole car instead of just the parts. The engine had been blown, coolant hose broke at the rear of the engine, so who knows how damaged the internals were. The passenger side window had been busted out and the audio system removed ever so carefully . Most of the wires had been left intact, so im sitting here with a LOT of wires that have very little meaning to me without know what theyre for. The shop had already sold the front seats, side mouldings, airbag, mirrors, headlights, and fuel pump, all of which wasnt too big of a deal.
Once home, we unloaded it from the truck and sent my Moreagrun ti up to michigan for storage and tucked the parts car in the garage. Now, 7 months later, the 357ti is almost ready for its drivetrain and ive come to realize, i dont want to drive it in the winter nor do i want to keep driving my Moreagrun, so im left with the parts car that isnt in too bad of condition. Pop open the garage and start going over what it actually needs to be roadworthy and what it takes to recieve a rebuilt title.
From last nights look over, ill be needing quite a few things done:
Front main chassis harness had been cut and torn in random places
Headlights
Fogs
Kidneys
Fenders
Mirrors
Airbag
Stalks and wiring
Tons of bolts and such for the dash paneling
HVAC panel
Head unit
Head unit wiring
Glovebox is broken
Glass all over car from being shattered
New passenger side window
Possibly new regulators/arms
Desperate cleaning of seats
Sunroof off track
OEM amp
Tail lamps and all bulbs
Now the remedy to all of this:
Front harness cut from old clubsport that was sent to the Junkyard
DDM Headlights/hid
DDM Foglights/hid
DDM Kidneys
Aftermarket Fenders
Mirrors from my 357ti (OEM m3 installed on that)
Airbag pulled from 357ti (Clubsport steering column installed)
Stalks and wiring from 357ti (Cruise control and other stalks pulled from Moreagrun ti)
Fasteners and hardware from Pelicanparts.com
HVAC panel from Pelicanparts.com
Headunit (local)
Headunit wiring (Cut from Clubsport prior to Junking)
Glovebox (someone send me theirs )
Glass all over (3hp shop vac, hand brush, cleaning solvents)
Passenger window (Sourced from Clubsport)
New window regulators (Rockauto.com, Pelicanparts.com, or Ebay.com)
Cleaning of seats, see pics below of my detailing section
Sunroof off track (May be broken, may have the dealer see if they can retrack it for me...i suck at realignment)
OEM amp (Installing crossover to match headunit and new speakers)
Tail lamps (i know i have like ten sets around here somewhere....)
Plans:
I plan to use this car for winter, so not much performance going into it....yea right.
M50B25 Non-vanos
-New headgasket
-New Engine harness
-Raceland headers
-Single 2.5"
-Euro M3 Clutch assembly
-5 Speed Getrag
-New guibo
-New slave
-New tranny mounts
-New m3 Engine mounts
-3.45 Small case Open Differential (hope for something LSD or rebuild 3.25 medium case)
Using my standard Clubsport 16" sport rims and Arctic Claw snow tires in 205/55/16. Standard vented brakes are already installed, post 04/98 chassis got them, the rest, non-vented. Stainless steel lines will be installed as well as a fluid flush and bleed.
Bodywise, there are quite a few bruises and bumps from a hail storm, but the car was repainted recently, you can tell from the orange peel. Ill likely just let them go or fill them and have it resprayed for 250$ around the corner.
Budget:
2,500.00 - Starting budget
400.00 - Car

2,100.00 - Left in budget

Those wheels are going to look sick on our Ti.
DUDE WHAT?! Finish the damn 357Ti already!!! I've been following that thread since you made it, youre SO close! This should be a cool project, I've always been a fan of your compacts, but I cant wait to see video of the 357, it's going to be sick.
Dont worry, im still working on it, they both have to be done at the same time.

Got a lot of things accomplished on the new chassis the past few days. Got the rear all cleaned up and inspected. Shock towers in good condition, recent new shocks, new rear brakes, more wiring, sound insulation, and a hairline crack going through the spare tire well. Moved towards the front of the car, all the glass is out, used a bucket and a hose to clean everything except the carpet and chairs, still need a new cleaner. Moving on to wiring repair pretty soon, looks like a decent amount was hacked or removed.

sweet stuff man! I love watching your builds.
Yea, this one shouldnt take too long though. Ill throw up a couple more pics for both threads in a bit. Currently drawing out some wiring schematics and getting parts lists together.
