whats up everyone who are reading this.
when i bought about my car 3 months ago the previous owner jacked up the O.E.M system.
It came with the Harmon Kardon sound system. The guy spliced into the factory amp and added 2 after-market amps (( one amp was a 4 channel and other was for subs)) also he changed out the 5 1/4 kick panel speakers and the 6 x 9. So i tried to fix his mistakes but no success.
i am not sure if he burned 3 of the 4 channels of the amp because when i plug the amp the way it was i only get sound from one 6 x 9 or if its because the hk runs on 2 ohms or should it still work anyway?
I am not the greatest at audio but i do know my stuff.
I AM FRUSTRATED!! HAVING NO MUSIC SUCKS
MAN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance
unplug the speaker and see if you get a resistance reading from a voltmeter.
what should the voltage read 12 volts?
Quick and dirty..
Swap the speaker outputs of the amp and see if the other speaker works, or the other channel of the amp. Then you can swap the inputs and see if it's the head unit.
Check to see that the remote turn on leads to both amps is in fact 12V+ Usually a blue wire. The amps should be clearly marked for 12+, ground (GND) and Remote.
It's VERY possible that one or more channels of the amp are dead. Especially when idiots use amps that are really too small and jack the input gains way up.
You can use a 9V battery to pop test any speaker. BE VERY CAREFUL... Just touch the + and - lead to the battery and listen for the speaker to pop.
No matter where you go, there you are...
When you say swap out do mean after market speakers or oem
Head unit is new

Switch the output of the amp (left to right)
