Nice! I believe you had better update the "My Cars" part of your profile!

I am the owner of this car now, is there a way I can message the previous owners regarding questions I have. I have a brand new ls2 on an engine stand ready to swap in

Was wondering if the car was ever wrecked or “tweaked” in some way. The front passenger side wheel sits deeper in the wheel well. Compared to the drivers side it looks less offset. Haven’t gone underneath it with my tape measure but it looks straight underneath. Visually it’s fine underneath, but looking at the wheels from a short distance I think it’s noticeable. It aligns perfectly it’s just bothering me that it’s like almost 1 inch difference in offset. The wheels are identical. Would like to know before I spend a good amount of time on the swap.

both the spindles are original m3 part numbers stamped on them. Just can’t seem to find where the difference is. One bearing looks like it was replaced and the other one original but I have a hard time thinking that would cause that much of a difference if it was the wrong part# used or if that is even possible.

maybe one of the previous owners could chime in if they ever noticed it or know anything that might have happened.

A couple things to verify -

    1. Verify the struts and springs visually look ok... Same number of coils, not sagging, etc
    2. A common mod was to swap the upper spring hats from one side to the other to gain additional camber and make the car corner better. Could this have been done? Was it done correctly? Are the springs and cups seated correctly?

I didn't reread the entire thread, but in it he talks about using non-M3 control arms even though it calls for true M arms. That I believe changes the caster on the car.

good catch, I think the owner before me but after these guys mentioned he replaced the control arms. I’ll get under it later and check if the proper parts were used today. Thank you for your help, wasn’t aware of the control arm differences so now I know to look for that. Will report back.
