just noticed today. the climate control unit on my '99 coupe is out -- nothing lights up, none of the buttons respond. it was fine yesterday.
thoughts?
Look up climate control bad capacitor. Pretty common problem.
From what I've heard if the resistor is bad the climate control will still light up but nothing will actually work. I guess it is possible that the resistor could knock it all out. Check fuses, and resistor if thats not it then you need a new ihka unit. Bavarian auto recyclers has them and at a very fair price. Hope its just a resistor or fuse though, good luck!
thanks, i think you're right.
if anyone else has this problem, there are guys on ebay who will fix it for ~$40.
i also found a diy guide here:

That DIY has been around for a while. I had this problem last year and a new capacitor fixed everything. Not bad for $0.50 & 30 minutes of your time. I would definitely not pay $40 and go through the trouble of shipping the unit. Good luck!
