Hey guys got a problem. Trying to run a miller WAR chip in my OBD1 325 but it has EWS2. What is the best way to go about this? Try and delete ews and use my 413 silver or can i do the jumper trick and run a 413 red.

^I actually have a silver EWSI DME sitting around (or so what I think is one, came out of a 1993, which I found odd), if I do the jumper trick with the green wire cut, and run this silver label with my WAR chip, the car should start correct?

Does the war chip delete EWS? I would think so. So then yes.

The WAR chip doesn't delete EWS per say. You have to delete EWS in order for the chip to work. IE if you have EWSI you have to snip green wire pin#66 in order for the car to work. For EWSII I haven't found anyone confirming a solution, I was told snip pin#66 and it will run, but we all know that isn't the case here...

My only confusion is to why there was a 413 silver label in a 1993. Could silver labels be swapped into non EWS cars and run them? Or does somehow this DME have the wrong cover. All the tabs were broken when I removed it indicating someone had previously taken it apart.....

Maybe the owner swapped a refurbed dme. I've seen refurbed dmes with odd covers.

    How to eliminate (1995) EWS1?

EWS1 that comes on 1995 BMW cars can simply be removed by getting the non EWS ECU or eprom and installing it in your EWS1 car. For example you got 1995 M3 with silver 413 ecu, to eliminate the EWS simply get a 506 ecu with brown label from late 1994 production M3. If you got 325i with EWS then just get red label 413, install and enjoy.

    How to eliminate (1996-1999) EWS2?

You could do this with a $40 flashing tool and all other information is free on internet, it requires you to download your original flash, modding the flash software, and burning it back into your DME ecu. Even if I wrote step by step procedure how to do it, even with video, it will be complicated to do for person who never worked with computer HEX code language. This requires working with raw HEX code and recalculating checksum, it is not that hard to do but most people don't even know how to find a OBD2 connector on the car so I don't even want to waste my time. I tried to post information on OBD1 ecu modding for free but people like MarkD and other basement ecu tuners cry to moderation to ban me
    Hakentt,

Can you please provide me with some additional information on how to eliminate EWS2? Such as which $40 flashing tool to use?

How do I get this EWS crap off my 1998 Z3 2.8L E36/7 Seimens MS 41.1 (OBD 11), without spending $410-425 and experiencing humiliation?

What are my options for Using an OBD-II DME w/an aligned EWSII but no keys? Should I go the emulator immobilizer route?

I'm going to swap a 3/94 s50 into a 8/94 m50 chassis. In addition to the harness, motor, and DME, I should also swap the EWS control module? I believe from 1/94 onwards all e36s had the EWS1 system according to the PDF doc at the beginning of this thread.

Also, if I'm going to swap injectors and get a chip for a 6/95 m3, what do I need to do to the EWS2 stuff? I've read about people snipping the no.7 plug at the harness. Can I get a delete chip? What's the best solution? Thanks in advance!

So Mu ECU needs an alignment, I was wondering I have a 95 318i would I be OBD1 Ews 2? and is there anyway I can bypass a red label for it to work on my car?

EWSII started with all cars produced 1/95 or later. What is the production date of your car? If it ends up being EWSII you can bypass it by getting a non EWS DME and following the same procedure used on the 413 dme.

Also note, just because it's a "95 318i" doesn't mean it was manufactured in 1995. You need to find the exact production date as Flyfishvt said.

EWS 11 will remain in my car until it screws me, then I think I'll rip out the engine and transmission, etc, and replace it with an aluminum V6 with a carb and point type distributor, straight shift transmission, and a drive shaft with U-joints that can be replaced. That should solve most of the headaches.

Why would you want to? The only time it does anything is if the doors are double locked.

Did you read any of this thread? Literally every e36 EWS option has been explained in this thread multiple times.

Unless his doors are double locked or someone entered a code into the on-board computer, the stock computer shoud start the car (permitting the stock DME isn't broken). The EWS2 DME you bought will not work at all without a chip/coding. the best way to fix this is get a DME made before 1/94.

Thanks, my key works w/o any problem and I can lock and unlock the doors perfectly, the car is in my garage so only me have access, Im going to buy a red label DME from a 93 E34 or E36 I think that should fix the problem and start my car. Sorry if I made offtopic.

Be careful.....that e34 m50 may not be a vanos engine. The dme you want is from a 93-95 e36 325 with a production date before 1/95.
