so I have been having some trouble with my car lately, I was trying to fix my third stop light and all of the stop lights went out along with the temp and fuel gauges, also the srs airbag light doesn't come on anymore when I turn the key, while driving the car I noticed that sometimes the fuel gauge comes back on but always eventually stops working and only the low fuel indicator stays lit, as well as the obc displays break light circuit - see owners manual, don't really know if these problems are separate or tied together somehow, I checked the fuses and all are good

Do the tail lights come on when you turn the headlights on?? If they don't then you have a bad wire somewhere. If they do come on then try the brake pedal switch.

they do come on and I thought about the break light switch but that would only fix my stop lights right? shouldn't have to do anything with the fuel and temp gauges or the SRS light?
The trunk loom wires caused all kinds of funky issues on one of my e36s, I would check those first since they're easy.
did actually check them out and noticed some wires are slightly cutting through the plastic wrap, should I just wrap it around with electric tape or do I cut them, skin them and then twist them together?
Don't do ghetto electrical repairs twisting wires together, learn to solder instead. If the copper is not damaged you can put electrical tape on it.

Solder would not be the way to go in this area as it is a stressed joint you would want to crimp. If you are going to solder best is to use original repair cable which sits inside the car away from the trunk lid bending
