I am in need of some advice regarding extending the warranty on my 2005 BMW 325i.

In October of this year, my certified pre-owned and my maintenance warranty expire.

I have the option of purchasing the Power Train warranty for $2,459 or the Silver warrenty for $2,946. Each is good for 24 months/24K miles.

The car has 75K miles on it - I have taken care of it - never missed a service, never had any major problems. I replaced the lower control arm bushings this past April, new tires in April, and replaced the motor for the passenger window last month.

I don't drive the car that often, but I might be this fall - depending on where I am assigned for my clinicals (nursing school) - I don't know yet.

Is it worth the $2500 - $3K for the next 2 years? What are the chances of the car having a massive fail where I would get my moneys worth?

I feel like if something happens - and it costs $1000, than I pay the $1000, and have saved myself the other $1500 - $2k.

Advice? Comments? Expriences? Thank you!
