    E36 M3: 6 CD Changer Woes

I just picked up an E36 M3 the other day. The radio was locked out. I got around to obtaining the unlock code from the dealer and after having the radio on for an hour was able to unlock it. Radio works, buttons are a little faded and it seems like I have two blown speakers (front left mid and rear left). Then I hit the trunk up so I can load some CD's and the magazine wont eject. Funny thing is, the eject button doesn't even have power. I hit "band" on the radio to switch from FM/AM to CD and I got the "Disk Error" message.

I checked fuses 9 and 44. They are fine. I unplugged them for an hour, put them back in, tried again, no power to CD changer.

    What should I do next?

I'm really just thinking I should get a CD43 and the BSW speaker package... call it a day. But for now, I just want to play some CD's with what I've got.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Try disconnecting the smaller, 3 pin connector from the rear of the changer. Let the changer sit for a good half hour, then plug it back in. Any signs of life? If not, there may still be a fuse on the back of the changer depending on how old it is.
Check it out, and let me know what you find.

Please note that the 6 cd changer has a fuse of its own that is between the 3 pin conector and the unit, check that fuse.

    Regards,

Alright guys, checked the fuse behind the CD Changer and it is good.

Attached is a pic of the cables hanging off behind my CD Changer. Which do I unplug? Or do I unplug the cables that are plugged in directly to the back of the CD Changer?

    Please advise.

I unplugged the 3-pin connector with the red and brown wires (only 2 wires on it) overnight, right before bed. Woke up in the morning and plugged it back in. Still no power to the CD changer.

Is there anything else I can try or should I start looking into a CD43?

    Bump.

Is there anything else that I can try to make the CD changer work or should I just get a CD43?
