Just wondering how these two cars compare as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
I found this info
0-60 mph: 6.0 sec
0-100 mph: 15.1 sec
Quarter Mile: 14.6 sec @ 98 mph
Skidpad: .92g
Top Speed: 142 mph (limited)
Anyone have any real world experience with the two cars?
eight years different in technology, they should do better than that...
Yeah i know, that's why i'm asking.Originally posted by v.b.

This is probably a dumb question (or that I'm too lazy to look it up ) but what are the E36 M3 specs?
Comparison?
This is probably one of the reasons why I posted this thread just now:

Yeah, are you comparing their STOCK rides to your MODDED ride? Or was theirs modded and yours stock?Originally posted by binh

I heard their engines are overrated...
and response never match any of the bmw...
My roommate has a G35 coupe. It's very nice. Good interior, good seats, not very roomy though. So he let me take it for a spin. Suspension is tight. Power is good. It doesn't pull as hard as my M3 through any of the gears.
Then I let him drive my car. He agreed that the M3 had more pick up.
It about as close in performance to an e36 M3 as I've driven though.
It's a sweet ride. I would never trade my ///M for one though.

My friend has a G35 coupe and stock for stock the 2 cars are pretty close in performance. We haven't run the cars against each other from a dead stop, but he does walk on me a little if we're going at it in 3rd or 4th gear on the highway. Not bad considering that my car is 7 years older than his...

how is that? its one of the best v6s on the market, if not the best. if theres one thing that nissan does well its build v6s. they make the power they claim, and they run forever, so how is it they are overrated?Originally posted by v.b.

good cars, but i like the 11 yr old style of the e36s better. i like bmws inline 6 better as well.
bmw-less.
I was reading the other forums...
they dynoed the Z and G...they were about 223 whp...
thats about a 20% loss for the z car, which isnt insane. you figure those huge ass brakes and wheels and tires do a lot to add unsprung weight, which could easily equate to more loss. dont the m's dyno around 200? thats a 17% loss. when did they dyno the z/g? all their numbers add up to them having the power they say though...1/4, 0-60, etc.Originally posted by v.b.

ive taken to school a G35 coupe. after toying with his ass he rolls up to me n says, "damn i thought ur car was a regular 3 series" he did have an auto transmission tho.
I love the interior, it is quality. I think it's a fast car, but not FAST. I'm pretty sure my 95 ///M will walk it...especially now with the mods
prisco have u seen scarface yet?
A stock M3 runs a low 14 and is easily faster than a G35/350Z if well driven. The handling might be kinda close, but not on par with the M3. I'd bet the G35 is the same if not more luxurious than the M3. So, in short, if you like driving get an E36. If you like cushy, get the G35.

I own a 350Z coupe (touring model, 6MT) and just got a 1997 E36 M3 with a Shark Injector. I'm pretty sure the M3 is quicker 0-60 and 1/4 mile, which kind of surprised me. I should un-Shark it for a fair comparison -- of course, the Z is only a year old with 16K miles and the M3 has over 100K. The two cars compare very well overall. They are different, but have a lot of the same features and overall performance is very close I would say. That says a lot for BMW that such an older design compares well to Nissan's newest sports car.
As far as the Z's HP, although Nissan claims 287, I've heard from several Z owners including a pro 350Z race team that many Z's are making much less than that in real life. Like 225-235 RWHP. With a carbon fiber driveshaft the loss should not be 20%. Realistically it could be as low as 13% is what I've heard, from people that have dyno'ed the engine alone compared to a chassis dyno for the same car. I'm far from an expert on this topic, though. It does seem that some 350Z's are making signifcantly less HP than Nissan claims. Maybe mine is one? I haven't heard this specifically about the G35 Coupe, but it's almost a twin to the 350Z so I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case for the G, too.
I ran a 13.9 with cai and exhaust.. Thats not too many mods but the cai does help. I've seen in some older magazines where they were able to get 13.7s and 13.8s out fo stock e36 m3s with a professional driver. Again I think it was in some of the older car and drivers or something.
I drove the new g35 its a really nice interior, car looks great and its new. Power was sufficient but my M3 felt better. It handled alright tho but you cant really tell with the dumbass salesman in the passenger seat telling you to calm down. :
I only saw it on TV, the lame version...why?
Drove my friends G35 sedan. It was an auto so I can't really compare it to the M3. Overall, I really love the car. Nissan did a great job on the design and overall performance. I would say that my wifes e46 328 feels closer in performance to the G35 sedan even though there is a significant hp difference.

What do stock E36 M3's dyno at?
And I'm trying to bump up power in my 99 M, I ordered some URI pullies and I'm looking into an intake and software. If i get the conforti shark after installing the pullies and intake, will it optimize the car with the performance modifications in mind or no?
stock M3s dyno anywhere between 195-210whp. Mine dyno'd 223hp/224tq with just an intake and exhaust. Conforti software is *suppose* to be good if you add an intake but there are mixed opinions about the conforti software actually doing anything for gains.

Any other software out there?
Wow 223 is really good for just exhaust and cai. What cai and exhaust are you running? I didnt feel any power gain from the exhaust but that Ecis cai made a big difference.
