Hazard Flasher Stuck On + No Turn Sig

I reconnected the battery's after 6 months. Hazard flasher are stuck on and of course the turn signals won't work. Both battery's are fully charged. I tried a new relay and fuses or OK. The only other thing in the curcuit is the multifunction switch and the crash control module. Any ideas anyone.

    Thanks

Did you try "cycling" the hazard switch? Ususally when you reconnect the batteries, the flashers go off and start blinking - you just need to hit the Hazard switch twice and they should go out, and everything return to normal.

    No Go

Still the same I even took the switch out of the circuit no change. The only way I can get it to stop is by removing the relay. A real head scratcher could it be anything else? I'll pull the multifunction switch and use some contact cleaner.

    Thanks

    Still wont stop flashing

I just saw the post about the reset so I thought I'd try it. Still the same. It's probabley somethig real simple but I just can't figure it out. If anyone has any other ideas please advise. I checked the flasher switch w/ a meter it's OK.

    Thanks

Pull the mustard coloured crash sensor relay and see if the problem still occurs

Is there an aftermarket alarm system installed?
How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?

Pulling the crash sensor relay did it!

Pulling the crash sensor relay did it. Finley no more flashing. Do I need to replace it?

Also ther might be an after market alarm. There is a Viper decal on the window. Under the dash driver side there is a BMW part (black box) that was installed at a later time. The wiring job tells me this. This item is hooked up to the alarm horn under the hood. It also operates the door locks and the red light on the dash. It's operated with the hand held remote w/ key. I can't find any other alarm.

What a relief to have those blasted flashers off. Please tell me the next step.

    Thank you

You need a new crash sensor I am afraid. Not sure what they cost. Someone might want chime in here as it's quite a common failure

I'll get one on order today

They look to be just under $60.00. I don't know why this should have failed. It worked just fine before I disconnected the battery six months ago. Power serge when reconnected? I really appreciate the help it was making me crazy.

    Thanks Again

try to pull the relay and stick it back in again.
    that might fix it.
you can find it by the clicking noise it makes in the fuse box

    I'll try it

When I pulled it out yesterday (the relay) the casing came off and the relay stayed in the socket. Thats a lot of pulling force for a relay. What ever made it stick in the socket could have prevented a good connection. it's better than paying $60.00

    Thanks

I posted the answer already on the E36 forum, as you own an E36.
Do not ask in the 8 forum for E36 details ;-)

I've noticed reconnecting the batteries Incorrectly causes the flashers to blink as well!

When I start my '94 E36, the flashers start and only way to get them to stop is to push the hazzard flasher button, turn them on, then turn them off.

    Any hints?

It's one of two relays as per the previous posts. Replacing the crash control relay fixed mine. It could be flasher relay though. Good luck.
