Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can get a pair of E36 yellow fog lights? Also does anyone know what company makes these lights?
Thanks,
Mark

or you can just paint them for 10 bucks.. just saying
wow... big difference in price from OEM and aftermarket. Is there any particular reason why the difference is so big besides the brand?

Paint dem bishs, I did mine today!
The OEM French ZKW fogs are old stock...even though you can still special order them from the dealership.
...Though I'd recommend painting your OEM clear ones with Krylon Yellow Stained Glass spray or Dupli-Color Metalcast Yellow.
The genuine French fogs only have an interior yellow film (I've owned a pair)...my film started to sort of melt/ruffle. I've had my Krylon'ed pair on my car for about a year; they still look excellent. You could put clear lamin-x over your painted pair if you drive on roads where the paint might become pitted quickly.
Bekkers also carries the OEM Frenchies.
Here's a picture of OEM (left) vs. Krylon-sprayed (right).
coffee, your car looks great in your sig photo.
bump for anyone who didn't know the Krylon trick
What do you do to the glass before you spray it? Just clean and spray? Does it stick well?
appreciate it.
Yeah, just clean it. I don't even remember using rubbing alcohol or anything...just make sure all the dirt/grease/grime is off.
The spray adheres perfectly; just build it up with light coats. Mine's been on for 1.5 to 2 years and holding up fine. I didn't do this, but it might be a good idea to install clear lamin-x overtop of the spray. I can tell that after a few years, sandblasting will take its toll on these. Of course you could just respray.

nice. while we're at it: your clear corners, why do they have an amber tint? is that the amber bulb inside making it look that way?
Yep, it's the amber bulb inside.
coffee, coincidentally, i just came across this thread: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1492981 check out the 3rd post.
i really couldn't agree more with the poster: "Daily driven, clean and rocking 16" wheels! It's not crazy at all, no crazy camber, no huge wheels, just a streetable clean 3 series."
that's what i've been planning to go with for the '97 328is that i picked up a couple of months ago. besides keeping it as detailed (clean) as is reasonably possible, i will probably only make subtle changes to the exterior, much like yours.
anyway, one last question about the lights. your amber high beams. lamin-x? if it's lamin-x, it looks very good, but i am skeptical of using just a thin piece of fancy contact paper to made visual modifications. how'd you do it?
Thanks for the compliment. I used the same Krylon spray for my high beam inner lenses. I'm not sure which type of headlights you have, but it's a fairly easy task with ellipsoids since they have removable lenses (via clips). From there, you can either tape off everything except the high beam lens, or take out the circular lens, spray it, and re-silicone it in.
If you have the stock US-spec. headlights, you'll have to loosen the headlight sealant to separate the lens from body...either with a heat gun or a short time in the oven.
Where did you get the spray at? I went to home depo and kragens but had no luck. I have some I can spray with my paint gun but it would be cool to have it in a can.
coffee: thanks. i'm going to take the car off of the road for a few months, wrench it, after which i'll post a few photos, if i remember.
bondovw: i had no problem finding it online, try Google Shopping, or similar: http://www.google.com/products?q=Kry...ow+Glass+spray
looking again, it actually doesn't seem so easy to find.
one vendor is selling it through amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Krylon-Stained.../dp/B0014C3VXG and they might ship to Canada
here's that same vendor selling it direct from their site: http://kustomaccessories.com/B0014C3...B0014C3VXG.htm
I wanted to spray my originals, but a rock flew into one and cracked it...so should I buy just yellow ones or buy originals and then spray it?
did you even read this thread?
see post #7 by coffee328
Id just spray them and then maybe get clear lamin-x to protect them.
1995 M3 S52 turbo (Sold, like an idiot) -----------------------------------1998 M3/4/5 (Hopefully turbo soon, Nope sold this too)..................................E92 335i(God, I miss the E36's)
I had the OEM Frenchies. As said it is just a film on the inside. Painting them works better and looks better. The eBay ones and yellow lamin-x don't add enough 'color'. It is a very light yellow.
i like mine
DROP DEAD EUROS
curious. how much did the painting yellow effect light output?
