    320i good crank....no start.

    Hey all,

pretty straight forward as the title shows. Got a 95 320i with a no start. Upon opening doors, I can't hear the fuel pump prime at all. The car cranks good, but won't start. So, my thoughts are either faulty crank sensor or fuel system issue...

anyone have some DIY check I can do to figure this out. I got good auto knowledge but not that familliar with bmw systems.

    so any help is appreciated.

    thanks

thanks for this info. Really helps. Its abit dark out right now, so I'll check my CPS and fuel pump tomorrow.

Anyone tell me exact position of the CPS ?? Is it next to the right strut cap ??

    TTT

Just an update...don't hear the pump priming, so could it be my relay ?? What should I check??

    anyone ??

SO, I don't have a haynes manual or anything and just trying to figure out this no start issue.

So far, I got no power at fuel pump fuse (wasn't cranking engine while testing), and the fuel pump does not prime.

Checked for power at fuel pump with ignition on, and at both connectors found no power....

relay ?? if so, where is it ??

    Download the Bentley service manual.

This helped me beyond belief. It will tell you everything.

    Go here: http://doonbugg.com/
and click E36 Service Manual its about 100mbs.

    Thumbs up

ARE YOU F@@@@ING KIDDING ME ???

So check this out....decided to go old school on this 320i and got my hammer and give the thing a couple whacks. And sure as shite, the pump primed for like 1-2 seconds, went WOT,turned the key and BAM..the car started.

So pretty sure its my pump.

Still gonna do all my checks, and AllenE36 appreciate the heads up. Will totally check out the link you sent my way.

    REDEPTION IS AT HAND !!!

Cool. It does sound like its the pump.

Order a replacement from Pelican Parts. For me I think it was $142, which is still over half cheaper of anything local (Avanced Auto, AutoZone, Napa, ect.) they were all around $300.
