Ooh, I almost forgot, I got mine reshod with Kumho Ecsta XS, 205/50/15:

So far I love them. They track very nice & straight until you point them in a turn, then hold on. Road noise & stiffness is on par with other similar tires. price is outstanding. I had to wait about a week to get them in this size.

Left her in the driveway and took dads M3 for a day at the skidpan drift day. She refused to start for about a minute when I got home, Louise was unpleased.

Started installing the new cabriolet roof on the 1982 Baur. Sorry, no pics. I will try to remember to do that tomorrow. I was a little hesitant about this project, debating whether to pay a professional to do this. I am not sure of the best technique to get the right final tension. I decided to give it a go... at least for the dry run---- screw it in without any glue yet, see how it looks. I attached it near the trunk and at the upper roll bar... so far so good. I havent done the side pieces yet. I need to buy some attachment parts at the lower corners... those are missing for some reason. As is, the top will shed water and keep it out of the back seat, but it is far from weather tight.
Tips from anyone who has done this job would be greatly appreciated.

Replaced head gasket, exhaust/intake/coolant gaskets. Pretty easy I must say.

I started on the brakes today; took them all apart and ordered everything I needed to get them up to par. This is my first venture into working on brakes. I also started detailing the wheel well and everything else I could reach. It is starting to look better by the day. I continue to be amazed at how well this car is cleaning up.

I think this will be one of the best original e21's out there when I am done... or at least I will think so.

Took the track car out of the work area and washed it for the BBQ and because it is probably 8 months since the last time I washed it with soap.

Then took some pictures of the fender work I did to clear the 225-45 Rs3 up front.

Soap? I only use soap about once a year, and plain water about twice a year, plus the rain. It loves the rain, nice and perty after a good shower The dust build up keeps the paint from fading, and deters thieves

I designed and made the splitter for myself, I have four more of the splitters half done, the front spoiler is just the stock USA - BBS 320i"S" piece. Not sure if the front spoiler was sold in the UK or Europe? Splitter is 1/4" ABS plastic, I can send you a paper pattern, and instructions for making them there on the other side of the pond for people if you would like or I can sell you one, but because of the size shipping maybe - - . PM me if you are interested.

    No BMW's currently
Hmmm... I've never posted on this thread before, I guess I'll start today.

I mounted the new GM "metric" calipers with parking brake levers to the swing arms, installed new parking brake cables and re-installed the 5 series parking brake lever (glad I never sold it last year) and rolled the rear fender lips (quality time with my favorite 30 year old Proto body hammer). No pics yet as the camera is at work.

The rear fenders still don't have enough clearance for the 245/50/16's and need pushed out about .5-.75" so I can lower it another inch or so and still have enough clearance for suspension travel. I guess I'll buy a fender rolling machine from Eastwood to push them out more.

Up next: Installing the rear differential hanger mount once the new urethane mount arrives from Jester, adapt the e21 brake cables to the new rear calipers, build new front caliper mounts for the Wilwood Dynalite calipers and plumb the brake system.

I have those on the M3 in 245/40/17 they are great, and they are not directional just asymetrical so they can swap left to right for tire rotations....

The Frozen Baur (AKA The Frozen Ground) now on Netflix (John Cussack is driving the Omega behind the Baur)

This is a pic of Kevin...

I helped Kevin who is trying to change oil pans in his M50, for his 320i.
There is always one stubborn bolt that needs to be taken out. In this case its a 8mm one that goes from the bell housing into the oil pan, and neither heat, nor pounding a smaller socket on it can get it out. Its like Hercules put it in there....

Kevin - you have to soak that with some PV blast....and then time to drill it out...

Danny is going to come by and get it out when he gets out of work. He said he is going to see if he has access to a welder to get a nut or socket on it and crank it off.

I got the new gasket and motor mounts. So if this bolt comes out I will have the motor in tonight.

No way congrats man! Drive the M3 one day, and then the E21 the next, do it for a while for a satisfying understanding of every little difference between them.

Adjusted the fuel box and went on at least 5 test drives. Tried timing 'the right way' and still no dice, so did it the ford way-by ear and revs. Thing runs 95% perfect....just that cruising studder!
