I sat in her and dreamed of the twisty turnies. Post pics of said daughter. Someone had to do it.

Pulled pre-pump and sending unit from tanks and found nasty varnish rust surprise! Scrubbed carpet in my backyard and dried in sun, after removing entire interior yesterday. Will be working on re-furbishing my center console in front of the tv this evening.....

Looked at it, took a picture. Made webered M10 noises with my mouth and then cried a little.

I think you meant 'pushBUTTON start ignition", correct? You aren't really gonna push it to start it from now on, are you?

OK, but don't be a perv about it. Yeah they are both mine and I love em. They each destroyed those cars. I don't let them drive the one I have now...

Yesterday I finally pulled mine out of winter storage in my 53 foot box trailer. Lots of work to be done this summer!

I opened up the garage door & looked at it today. Drove it a bunch this last weekend. Had a shit day at work today & tomorrow is supposed to be nice weather, so I'll probably drive it tomorrow & take some aggressions out on my tires (read: break something).

Removed the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, injectors and the radiator. I will be pulling the engine for a rebuild this weekend. Anyone know where I can find syncros for less than $60 each?

Stopped by the tire dude's and made an appointment for alignment following the installation of my new Bilsteins, Eibach springs, upper bearing mounts, tower braces, all the little bits...WEDNESDAYYYYYY! I've been gathering all of this stuff together, along with repair welds, since January and now I have only one more day to wait. Can hardly sleep now.

Spent the morning driving the twisties in the hills (Skyline/Germantown/Thompson) to settle in the lowering springs per Hal's suggestion. Was fun but couldn't bring myself to really push it because of a) fear of surprise bicyclists on the road - found some early on and was somewhat sketched out thereafter and b) steering & handling are very different now and I never quite got used to it. I've never really understood what is meant by oversteer/understeer, but I can certainly say that now, it steers INTO turns more than I expect. So is that oversteer? Oh and fixed taillight.

Ooh, I hate when that happens. It is customary to keep a pooper scooper in your tool box, just in case of that eventuality. It is the polite thing to do.

It may be a tiny bit lower now. To explain oversteer and understeer to you, I would use a specific corner example, I like using a single corner, right or left, insignificant, but lets say since yall be driving on the right side of the road, we'll talk about a sweeping left 3 corner (5 being 90° square and 1 being gentle bend).

If you're coming from the right hand lane and you clip the apex of the left hand corner, the tail comes out towards the right side of the corner and you end up facing the inside of the inner edge of the corner, thats oversteer, at this point you will be steering to the right to keep the car from rotating inwards and then eventually depending on speed and driver skill, backwards.

Understeer is when you come from the right hand lane move towards the apex, and either before or after the apex the front end refuses to grip and you end up sliding towards the outer edge of the right hand lane, the only solution to this is to reduce speed and put more weight back on the front end, but again, recovery is entirely based on speed and driving skill.

"Sideways" is usually referring to oversteer. Front wheel drives understeer since the amount of grip in the front tyres is limited as power and braking is done on the same pair of tyres. I like to think of it in percentages, rear spread out those percentages so only cornering braking and steering is done with the front wheels and rears are cornering and putting power down.

4 wheel slide, or 4 wheel drift refers to a point of extreme traction loss where all 4 wheels are in skidding state, this can be controlled, but usually only by the most talented drivers with the most responsive machines.

What you're referring to is turn in, which is basically the way of describing how the car and more specifically the front end reacts to a change in direction. It can also can be a way to describe the level of understeer or oversteer on turn in.

You are experiencing less understeer and more tyre contact on the road as a result of a tiny degree of camber and lower roll centre (the weight is lower, think of skyscraper vs house)

In E21's from the factory, they understeer on turnin, people panic, lift off the throttle, weight comes off the rear, it goes into snap oversteer and people die.

Upgraded suspension makes a huge difference, especially did for me in stage 1 of suspension mods. Stage 2 has proven to be even more beneficial for handling.

    Is that good?

    ps: just found this [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oversteer[/ame]

I was going to say something witty with regards to that, but I wasn't sure how to react.

    Just like it sounds:
"Understeer" = Ain't steering enough = goes straight.
"Oversteer" = Steers too much = "Why is the world twirling around outside?"
"Turn in" = How the car responds when you first cut the wheel.
Sounds like you've got "good turn in response"

Oversteer is when your tail hits the wall, understeer is when your nose hits the wall. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall & torque is how far you move the wall.

Finally.... language that I can understand!! Gotta love that! Thank you.

Seriously, I do appreciate all of the explanations given above, as that is something I needed a better understanding of.
