    Cool

Picked up a piece of plastic from an accident no doubt from the road, it embedded in the tire, slow leak, took the tire off(optional) and put on spare, picked up a tubeless tire patch kit at HF for $5- 5 tire ropes, got the plastic piece out , reamed the hole, put the tire rope on the fork tool wet with vulcanizing glue- included , inserted in the hole leaving about 1 inch protruding, pulled the fork tool out and then cut the tire rope flush with the tire surface, filled the tire with air,all in all a couple minutes work, all signs point to good....

Drove it to the nearest gas station i found on www.pure-gas.org to fill it up with pure ethanol free gas ... I started to read up on the effects of ethanol fuel in CIS systems, and what starts to happen after just 30 days.

    ... go do it.

Finally ditched the factory E21 seats and installed a set of 2006 Tiburon seats. They went in like butter and they feel great. I had to make a my own brackets and used a piece of channeled steel on the existing inside perch to even it out. I used the Tiburon seats because they are nice and low with no height adjustment. The whole thing is bolt in no welding required. With the price of recaros these days this is a much cheaper route. About 220 for all the bits including the seats which I found on CL. c+4E7vdmRROAW81RckG%0Q.jpg

Replaced the worn out straps on the seats from my '79 with new recaro straps. Cleaned up the seats and installed them into the '82 320is shell I picked up last week. Lots of stuff left to do to get the car to run, but it does feel good to have this done. Being able to sit behind the wheel for the first time is definitely motivating!

replaced the tired seat straps on the recaro seats---easy to do and a great maintenance item.
removed rear package tray to clean it an re-cover (or paint) it
changed diff fluid, oil and filter.

installed hella driving lights, led bulbs, and connected the driving lights to the high beam circuit so they can run from the hi/lo beam lever.

Well! That rear subframe is fascinating! Points for a creative medium case diff swap. What’s the sway(torsion?) bar off of? I like the setup, might do that myself

The sway bay is ground control's e36 swaybar. i was going to use a universal sway bar but this was the perfect size and fitment for me! I also made some changes to the sub frame to increase the height of the differential. I will take some pictures of it tomorrow. Suck having to redo the differential mounts but its completely worth it to make everything optima for my uses.

    EDIT: added picture

Cut, drilled and installed a 1 1/4" square stock thick walled steel tube for a home made 'alpina brace', it did seem to stiffen up the front suspension on the twisty roads this evening. $12 for the steel, $4.50 for the grade 8 bolts, washers, lock washers and nuts.

Should be a good support for the aluminum skidplate I am working on.

    Cool

Yeah, noticed it lessens nose twist with Alpina Bar installed, with B Pillar and Tower Braces coupled with a lower center of G and tight springs and a few other goodies gets numbers that can be compared to the gold standard of suspensions--the ordinary go-cart. I'm not talking about aerodynamics either which obviously means lessen drag coefficient-resistance to moving in atmosphere ,,, lol,,,

Worked on plugging in and bolting everything back on after I put the motor back in this past weekend.
Anyone here that has done E30 M10 EFI conversion? What did you use for the throttle cable to connect to the E30 throttle?

Took the vehicle finally out of winter storage. Installed the refurbished alternator (I could not get the voltage regulator off so I took it to an alternator shop that replaced the voltage regulator and did some other work on it such that it spins quieter). The vehicle started and ran great. Next thing to do is to investigate the small brake fluid leak out of the right rear wheel assembly.

Installed a few goodies I ordered... trunk light lens, brake pedal pad, some screws and also my reupholstered rear seat. The correct material is NLA, but I found one that was close enough for me.

I got the fabric on fabricguru.com and the stitching was done by a close friend that is a furniture upholsterer by trade and has been putting up with my old car obsession for the past 35 years. Thank God for good friends!

Made some shortened e34 thruster arms. Going to start working on the front suspension. Also got my Z3 steering rack in. Thinking about switching to a RHD rack so I can simply flip it upside down instead of using the US rack and a converter. Since the z3 rack is front steer and the e21/e34 are both rear steer.

Made the mounting points on the subframe for my thruster arms. Also, a photo of the Z3 rack in the car.

Huh! How’s the lock to lock on that? Just picked up the e36 rack and moving forward on converting my suspension, maybe a z3 rack is worth getting

It’s 2.7 turns from lock to lock. Are you using the full e36 front suspension? The only thing I found annoying is now I have to make this rack work in a rear steer format or switch to a slower rack. Decided I’ll order one of these (http://www.colemanracing.com/Reverse...Box-P6316.aspx)in a couple weeks to remedy the issue.
